Also, software development is already the best possible use case for LLMs: you need to build something abiding by a set of rules (as in a literal language, lmao), and you can immediately test if it works.

In e.g. a legal use case instead, you can jerk off to the confident sounding text you generated, then you get chewed out by the judge for having hallucinated references. Even if you have a set of rules (laws) as a guardrails, you cannot immediately test what the AI generated - and if an expert needs to read and check everything in detail, then why not just do it themselves in the same amount of time.

We can go on to business, where the rules the AI can work inside are much looser, or healthcare, where the cost of failure is extremely high. And we are not even talking about responsibilities, official accountability for decisions.

I just don’t think what is claimed for AI is there. Maybe it will be, but I don’t see it as an organic continuation of the path we’re in. We might have another dot com boom when investors realize this - LLMs will be here to stay (same as the internet did), but they will not become AGI.

LLM’s supposedly scrape almost everything immediately. I read a post about a guy who was setting some webpage for his own use, and got instantly overrun by crawlers - even though he never advertised or shared his page anywhere

Another dog she helped was a Saint Bernard named Master Tank. She adopted him from a shelter after he was lost during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, not long after her own Saint Bernard had died. The story has been told but bears repeating. Master Tank belonged to Steve and Dorreen Couture and their grandson, who was 4, recovering from the murder-suicide of his parents and losing his dog during the storm. The Coutures eventually tracked down Master Tank, but instead of giving him back, Bondi hired a lawyer, who accused the Coutures of abusing the dog, which Bondi had renamed Noah. ‘She lied,’ Dorreen told a Palm Beach Post columnist. ‘My little grandson begged her to take the dog home, and she refused. She thought she would just wear us down. That we were unstable people and would just quit.’ The case was settled out of court, with Bondi securing visitation rights, but she never did visit. She got another dog.

I feel the same. I will use my 2022 320i touring until it turns to dust. By then, I hope I’ll be able to afford a porsche that can fit my dog’s cage in the trunk.

I’m definitely not buying any of the newer models with giant touchscreens instead of buttons.

I’m wondering if those who think that AI will replace our jobs have ever used “AI” (LLM), because it’s not very good.

I’m currently leading a business project at a big corporation, and an AI chatbot solution got pushed into my scope by executives, to be delivered free to the client as a pilot (screwing with my budget). Either Copilot Studio is absolute garbage, or we have incompetent engineers, because they can’t get it to work for 3 weeks now.

I have a hunch that in order for the latest fancy models to vomit back barely useable answers, thousands of the world’s best engineers and PhD-s are sweating blood 24/7, while using computing power and consuming energy that would have been enough for a continent in 2019.

Meanwhile they are also burning money like crazy, with no sustainable business model in sight. I’m not saying LLMs are not to stay, but there will be a huge bust, and it will assfuck the economy and workers, while these idiots will get bailed out by Daddy Small Government.

Congrats, keep it up! I was 121 at my heaviest (many years ago), now at 95. Not perfect (180+ cm tall), but at least I found a weight I can maintain without an unreasonable daily effort

Same thing is happening in EU. 10 years ago most shooting courses were full of bald neo nazi dudes, but now it’s mostly liberals and leftists who want to protect themselves.

Russia trying to rape and murder a neigbouring country and USA going berserk definitely gave a lot of people the nudge to train and arm themselves (though legal gun ownership options are very limited).

    There should be a limit to new accounts posting, like reddit has in many subs. I have no problem with new ppl commenting, but when I see accounts like OP, or others where they have a hundred post with zero comments in a few days, I get annoyed. At least there should be an option for me to autohide posts from accounts newer than X days somewhere in the settings.

    2 was a bit repeptitive and rough around the edges for me, but still a ground breaking game.

    3 is my favorite, also one of my all time top games, though I haven’t replayed a while.

    4 is just 3+ in my opinion, so good but not unique.

    I was surprised that I liked 5, I expected not to.

    6 is quite bad, you are not missing anything.
