id rather get into arguments with zionists than stick my head in the sand and hope they change on their own.

I don't know if I have a vote, but a big nay from me on this one. 🐎

i believe u need to downvote the post and write a comment for ur vote to be recorded.
the bot should then reply to ur comment with an image corresponding to ur "voting type/level".

i completely agree. im typically made aware of an issue at the same time as my ability to decide on what should be done is reduced to: "this specific action (i.e. banning these communities)" or "inaction".

maybe itd be better to first make a sticky announcement titled "[discussion] how should we deal with zionists on feddit communities" that involves ppl discussing options and providing possible proposals. these proposals could then be sorted by popularity and individually voted on until one has a certain % majority.

idk how proposals are made at the moment. as i understand it, a mod just comes up with an idea and then proposes it. maybe they discuss a little with the other mods first. but ive seen many votes before this one with far better proposals given in the comments that of course were never considered bc at that point it was already too late.

rivvvver ,
@rivvvver@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I understand that some people want to still see them so they can "refute their bullshit" but let's be honest, when has that ever worked?

the thing is that u cannot know what impact it has. mainly my perspective is, i agree that theyre unlikely to change their mind, but its not a 1:1 talk. u appeal to the audience, not the fascists themselves.

therefore, if i could choose between a world where fascist talking points are never refuted or one where they are refuted but never convince the fascists, id still choose the latter.

add to this that u will never flip someones beliefs 180° in one comment thread on the internet. but this does not mean it doesnt plant seeds of doubt that will grow with time. this has worked in the past, it just isnt as flashy and immediate as we expect it to be

rivvvver ,
@rivvvver@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Same thing applies with feddit.

that would imply that no antifascists should be allowed to enter the bar bc there are some nazis in there, and the bar will stay operational.

unless ur suggesting the feddit mods need to ban zionists whenever they appear, in which case, i agree.

rivvvver ,
@rivvvver@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

are u saying that these are mutually exclusive?
that ppl who oppose genocide can do no wrong?

im not necessarily against insulting fascists, but i dont think its particularly effective at anything but escalating tensions. can be good at making ppl feel shame for expressing such beliefs, but that doesnt always have to be the case

rivvvver ,
@rivvvver@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

i see. still, i think this post doesnt show strong enough evidence of this abuse of authority actually happening.
as others in this thread have also criticized, most of the modlogs shown here can be explained with "uncivil language/death threats" lead to bans, with likely some zionist tendencies exacerbating the issue (its a german instance after all). dont get me wrong, i understand the issue with civility politics, but a mod who bans someone for making a death threat is not necessarily an ideologically convinced zionist who abuses their power to suppress any anti-zionist sentiment whatsoever. and if the abuse of power is real, it should be trivial to show more "civil" anti-zionist comments that were banned instead of the ones that were calling for someones suicide.

if it could be shown more convincingly that feddit mods will ban any pro-palestinian sentiment outright, i might actually agree to ban communities or defederate

thank u for sharing ur perspective.

What I propose is a three/five strikes system for external users with a relatively gentle warning message with some good links like someone already proposed here. Probably a little thing in German to get the attention of those with Nazi baggage who are completely delusional and intentionally ignoring reality.

i second this proposal.

merz always looks the same in pictures and it fascinates me. it is the face of someone who has little idea whats going on, but who has gotten quite far with acting absolutely confident in whatever they say.

its the same vibes ive seen from many managers who will speak abt the most complex unknowns with the utmost confidence. not because they know what theyre doing, but because admitting they cant be sure seems like an admission of weakness.

my guess would be that those loyal customers are the least likely to leave, so u can squeeze as much as u like out of them.

new customers u wanna attract more of, so treat them better and they will come to u.

those who leave and come back for the discount are probably not a meaningful enough size for a company to even think about.

Or even worst, the elderly?

id say this is definitely an effect of this behaviour, but i doubt its intentional. a company doesnt care abt anything but profits, so they dont care abt the impact of their actions beyond that

Signal introduces Remote backups ( signal.org )

In the past, if you broke or lost your phone, your Signal message history was gone. This has been a challenge for people whose most important conversations happen on Signal. Think family photos, sweet messages, important documents, or anything else you don’t want to lose forever. This explains why the most common feature ...

clippy is now a right-to-repair icon. the idea is that if lots of ppl change their YT profile pic to clippy, people in power will feel threatened and cave in. or maybe corporations will see theres a market there and make repairable devices.

    im sorry to hear that after all of this u continue to claim the state is an extension of its people, and continue to mix representation and delegation. or for that matter, the myth of the state abolishing itself, which has no basis in reality.

    ill give up on explaining this to u now.

    interesting u should say that. theres actually this political system that someone used complex systems analysis to create in an adaptable, yet stable way. very much like the evolutionary process.

    if ur interested, its this series, particularly part 2:
