The Fediverse is huge and overwhelming to a newcomer, with many different types and each with servers to pick from. Which ones would you suggest checking out or avoiding?
SA is a huge digital nomad hotspot. i haven't been there, but it's a favorite of a lot of nomads. They've all said that it's fast, reliable, a bit pricey on housing but you can work around it, and hella fun. I've never heard anyone complain about it.

You Should Know YSK that you can post to Lemmy from Mastodon, and Mastodon users can interact in Lemmy threads. This is a Mastodon account.
Seems like there's a new wave of Lemmy users, thought they may find that interesting! It can also work with other Fediverse software as well. It's all interconnectable. It's not perfect and there's some quirks due to Lemmy being a forum and Mastodon being a microblog. But you can ping Mastodon users in threads, and they can reply seamlessly.
I remember a few years ago some people got pissed over a clip posted from Legend of the Galactic Heroes and people were like, "this is from the 80s/90s. I think the scene was one where people protested in a stadium and a soldier fires, then everyone starts shooting and it's a masacre. Then the guy who's the "competent dictator" type is like "so this is democracy, eh". I think that's how it went.
I run a small business and do a lot of networking and I've noticed that people aren't really handing out business cards anymore. Do you still use them?
I have so e personal and professional cards that also have a qr code on them. It's been a good way to not get lost in an address book with a thousand names
I've seen people on news and other places saying that they can't send texts with the word "Epstein," there was also censorship around Israel and ICE videos as well
I just watched this introspective and well done video from a man who traveled to China, and how it made him consider his own behaviors of leaving when things get uncomfortable. Then he fell in love with it. It gave me quite a bit to think about, myself. ...
I enjoyed the read. Things are very much in turmoil and the question of what was I doing, why, and should I have done something else is a very shared experience.
oh sure, I had the quarter life crisis haha. I'm in my late thirties now, but that what the hell am I doing feeling will show up periodically haha. it's part of life

But for promotion, one of the biggest issues I've had while traveling is the online presence. They should have a Google maps entry with the keywords that they want, their website should mention it, as well as their SEO entries.
I'd recommend them have keywords like cowork, nomad, digital nomad, retreat, health and wellness, etc. There are definitely people looking for that vibe when they travel!
he must have been a wonderful person, and ti have been with you and your son through his life. I'm sure he'll always be remembered, and I imagine he was happy to be a part of your lives.
cheers to him 😊
edit: what is one of your favorite memories of him?
I wound up high-yielding it out of the goblin camp. I managed to cross a cliff or something before they got me, but my peeps were definitely falling on the way out haha. That was a wild one.
edit: after that the characters kept talking about how I killed the whole goblin camp and I definitely didn't hahaha. They are very much still there.
The earliest order I can see related to my current phone is 2021. I quite like it and changed out the battery this year, so it lasts all day again.
Sometimes the performance slows down and I don't know if that's because of poor software updates, but it has a headphone jack and a great DAC. The screen is still in good condition, etc, so I don't intend to replace it any time soon.

I've been and seen both types of backpackers, though I always loved getting into the less well traveled places where they don't speak English and you need to figure it out. It feels more adventurous and gives everything a little extra flavor 😁
I just emailed them to see if I could help them keep costs down. I'm a software dev and run keyboard vagabond in addition to self-hosting things at home. We'll see 🤷

you are at a definite low point right now, but that means that things will get better. It's ok to be sad at the state of things. it's ok to miss touch. You already know things ended for a reason. It's ok to be depressed for a bit. Try to take care of yourself and treat yourself as though you were someone you were responsible for. you'll get through this.
