Senegalese police have arrested several men for allegedly committing "unnatural acts" – a reference to gay sex.

Human rights report shows the US is undermining LGBTQ+ and wider human rights across the world. That applies to East Africa as well.

A court in Uganda has thrown out a case where a person was being tried under the country's 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act. I guess that that could be seen as good news. But the fact that the man was labelled mentally ill does not make me hopeful.

Trans people have a long history in Uganda. The mudoko dako, MTF trans women, were recognised by the Lango as a third gender, living as women within their communities.

More than two years after he was charged, a traumatised young man - one of the first people arrested under Uganda's extreme Anti-Homosexuality Act - will finally be released. He should never have been arrested in the first place.

We had hoped to get into the US as refugees. Now I am worried about those who did get entry. The Trump administration plan to send LGBTQ asylum seekers to Uganda and Iran, where same-sex relationships and gender nonconformity are criminalized and can be punished by imprisonment, torture, or death.

Here's an example from South Africa on how adults in position of power use that power to shame LGBTQ kids and youth into submission. This is evil.

I see that the international Anglican community has split because of the new female Archbishop of Canterbury. Much of the opposition comes from conservative African bishops, who are also against the acceptance of LGBTQ people. Imagine what it is like to be queer in countries where men like that dominate https://religionunplugged.com/news/female-archbishop-of-canterbury-sparks-african-anglican-divide
