Back in 2021, Bo Burnham released Inside which was emotionally wrenching. I've rarely felt so concerned for another human in my life.

He and I don't run in the same circles, so it isn't as if I was going to be running into him at the bowling alley or the laundromat. It's no big thing that I haven't seen him in four years. There are millions of people on this planet I don't know.

And yet, for some reason, I just thought of him.

Bo? You doing okay, buddy?

FAFO moment: Synology drops unpopular proprietary HDD rule to stop plummeting NAS sales. Synology has backtracked on one of its most unpopular decisions in years. After seeing NAS sales plummet in 2025, the company has decided to lift restrictions that forced users to buy its own Synology hard drive https://www.guru3d.com/story/synology-reverses-policy-banning-thirdparty-hdds-after-nas-sales-plummet/

@nixCraft Cool. My multi-message long chain of emails with "Dustin K. | Product Manager" six months ago had /some/ effect.

I hope the effect is that Dustin needs a new job.

The Synology was a truly great product. To destroy alllll that good will with such slimy tactics is a deep shame. As someone else mentioned, see ya in ten years.

Old games suck. Sorry.

They are fun to show kids, though. There's some joy in sharing the bad-old-days with kids. "When I was your age" stories don't have to be bitter.

A few years back we played old 2600 games on a Dreamcast emulator with a friend's son.

A lot of the experience was laughing.at "can you believe how BAD this was?!?"

Now, I'm going to take a rotary dial phone to a friend's house to mess with their kids' little minds.

I've got a new video out today, this time on the tech that keeps those old dinosaur-powered cars from polluting the air too much

@TechConnectify I expect you already know this, but Google isn't showing me your video unless I go search for it in my subscriptions.

The only reason I know this is because you post here on the fediverse.

I'm glad you're here, despite how vociferously you say you hate it here.

@NanoRaptor okay, but I'm gonna need it to be all stickered up in leftover vinyl offcuts.

Your claim was extraordinary and inflammatory and I think it is vitally important to fight against the influx of incorrect information.

To that end, I have taken it upon myself to verify your claims to ensure that they are true.

I'm happy to report that I was able to completely validate your claim. It is entirely true that computers are bullshit. There is absolutely no doubt or room for equivocation. Thank you for doing your part to fight misinformation on the Internet.

Eh... it isn't the taste so much as the texture. Bleh.

@NanoRaptor Wow! What is possibly fluorescing? I know that some foods -- like quinine in tonic water -- but my tumeric, at least, doesn't seem to react much.
