It's really putting a damper on my excitement for ATP when so many of the influential devs are not just pro AI in the generated content sense but also the silicon valley "thinks these gigascaled autocorrect engines are actually thinking" sense

It seems the ATProto community needs to have a conversation that ActivityPub had to deal with (poorly) before: i.e. reckoning with whiteness and its intersection with minority communities and devs in open social web

Tech is not neutral, even if protocols try to be. The US Government should be entirely capable of setting up their own ATProtocol infra (or ActivityPub for that matter) if they want public comms on this network. Bluesky the company is under no obligation to host them, and making that choice when they act like 4chan filth is not a neutral choice.

This morning woke up to have Firefox proudly bragging that they made their Android interface worse

Now the menu you use is no longer a menu, instead of tapping the menu and then back, forward, reload being right there under your thumb, now the menu comes up from the bottom, for no fucking reason, and I have to move my thumb all the way down there, which is an actual problem because phones are too large now so if I'm holding the phone one handed might have to reposition my hand.

    About the only place where they could be nailed dead to rights is if they applied the price parity they have for Steam keys to distribution channels that don't involve their infrastructure at all (which is looking a bit sus with those emails).

    I just want a definitive yes/no answer if they did it or not, and if they did, for them to stop.

    For further Bluemeta context:

    The "posters strike" was a movement in 2023 mostly from trans sex workers and their supports on the site to protest an unpopular move the moderation was doing. It did not work very well and caused bizarre drama (the site was much much smaller then).

    For the reason she posted WAFFLES: Bluesky's T&S refused to ban Jesse Singal, an extremely aggressive and disproportionately popular-with-the-elites transphobic journalists who often directed brigades and doxxing towards trans people, defends pedophiles to a concerning degree, and posted the private health information of a trans child on public. They outright changed the ToS to allow him to stay and also gave the personal details of a poster shitting on Singal to his lawyers so they could C&D him.

    Most "normal" apps use this as a shortcut to trigger a bug report or feedback screen. I think the rationale is to prompt the user for data if they're upset at their device not working.
