Is it okay to beg for money on Mastodon?

Every week I see accounts asking for money, often tagging me or others directly.

I support recognized aid organisations, but these direct requests make me concerned, because as a Mastodon user I have no way of verifying if the requests are legitimate, or some nefarious person is pretending to be a person in need.

So my question is, should Mastodon servers have a policy about begging, and if so, what should the policy be?

@randahl These accounts are practically all on "mastodon.social" and this monster instance don't have any functioning moderation, so reporting them will not help. The only option is to block them.

'Radweg'

So sieht über drei Monate lang ein Radweg aus,
wenn a) bei der Planung in einem ehemaligen Feuchtgebiet, die obligatorische Pumpe vergessen wird
und b) die Kreisstadt nicht dazu in der Lage ist, die freiwillige Feuerwehr zu bitten, mit der Absaugpumpe vorbeizukommen.

Farbfotografie im Format 3:2 Landscape. Eine große, leicht gekräuselte Wasserfläche, welche gut vier Fünftel der Fläche ausfüllt und in welcher sich der blaue Himmel mit seinen Kumuluswolken spiegelt. Im verbleibenden Fünftel, links der Mitte, ragt der Bogen einer Unterführung aus dem Wasser. Die Unterführung ist gut zur Hälfte mit Wasser gefüllt. Rechts davon führt eine breite Treppe aus Betonstufen und beidseitigen Geländern aus Edelstahl, aus dem Foto hinaus.

Na super, läßt klammheimlich sein Versprechen aus den „Terms of Service“ für verschwinden, persönliche Daten nie zu verkaufen.

Ich hätte jetzt gern einen grafischen Browser unter Linux mit der gleichen Funktionalität, aber ohne Datensammelei.

Und was ist eigentlich mit ? Kommen da ähnliche Scherze? 😒​

Ich stelle mir das als eine Landschaft wehrhafter Instanzen vor, die föderiert sind. Eine Armee von Rebellen, ähnlich der Föderation bei Star Wars im Kampf gegen das GAMAM/X-Imperium. Ich hab' mal etwas mit der Bilderzeugung von ChatGPT experimentiert und von Hand hie und da noch nachgeholfen. Hier das Ergebnis. Man könnte die Bildidee fortspinnen: Etwa feindliche Heerhaufen (dargestellt als X) usw. Die ganze Klaviatur aus Herr der Ringe drängt sich einem auf. Hier: Das Auenland.

Im KI-generierten Bild zu sehen ist eine Landschaft ähnlich der Drei Gleichen in Thüringen. Die Hügel tragen mittelalterliche Burgen. Über dem Burgfried jeder Burg schwebt jeweils ein Mastodon-Logo, über den übrigen Zinnen und über der Landschaft die Logos von Wordpress, Peertube und Pixelfed. Jede Mastodon-Instanz ist eine eigene Burg/ein eigenes Haus, deren Haus- und Burgherren selbst darüber entscheiden, von welchen anderen Instanzen sie Content akzeptieren, welchen Regeln sie ihren Content unterwerfen, wer hinein darf und nach welchen Regeln sie im eigenen Haus moderieren

@mho Das ist wohl nur mal ein Wunsch. Es hat noch so viele Personen, Institutionen, Organisationen, Parteien, Unternehmen, Verbände, Vereinen und Medienhäusern auf "X" und noch auf zu vielen Webseiten gibts immer noch das Link-Logo auf "X" - ich sehe da kein "Ende", das sich abzeichnen würde. Eher denke ich da an "too big to fail".
