I feel alienated from most stuff. I want to participate but I'm constantly told my stuff is too dark.

To me solarpunk's most interesting story is when people start to fight back against capitalism, not 20 years after we won.
Where are the bullet holes in walls, the statues commemorating victories of the people against corporate robot armies?

It's not about realism, for it's about... in my guts, do I feel like this is a honest camera and not an advertising? I feel unease from it.

    just realized. since block game's terrain is going to be finite*, i could conceivably solve the distant terrain issue by simply slowly generating all of the chunks (and LoDs) in the background over time 🤔

    also i could only store visible faces to reduce storage, since at distance you don't exactly need to know about blocks that are inside walls

    Fixed the MIS implementation, now it converges to the same image as basic uniform direction sampling. Time for tests: 4 renders with different values of light sampling probability. p=0.25 seems to be the best, and reduces noise severely:

    Unfortunately, it seems that reusing good Monte-Carlo direction samples via spatiotemporally reused reservoirs doesn't really help in my case. With various parameters it is either as good as simple uniform sampling, or slightly worse (i.e. more variance). That's a bit sad :)

    Changed the way I prevent reservoirs from overflowing, now even the shadows from thin pillars are visible in debug reservoir visualization

    Here's some visualization of reservoirs. They are pretty uniform (because there's a single central light source), but notice a huge section with random-colored patches in the middle: that's a shadow, where there's no direct ray to the light, so the reservoirs are more random.
