I've been giving Mastodon a fair share over the past few months, but even though the user base is significantly larger on that platform than Lemmy, I find the actual user ENGAGEMENT significantly worse. I'll be posting random super interesting shit (according to me at least) and get fuck all as any for of reaction whatsoever, ...
Definitely noticed that with Mastodon -- there's not a whole lot of folks talking/reacting with one another. I suspect it's related to the user base (doesn't have critical mass, demographics, or activity) or a discoverability issue. Bluesky, on the other hand, has a whole lot more engagement on a host of topics.
The best they can do is probably close their Canadian/Mexican plants if the losses are too great, which would increase unemployment in those areas for not only the automotive factories, but also the ones for the automotive suppliers. Even if a Chinese company swoops in to buy the factories, it'd take time to set things up.

I'm looking to build a reliable, basic, no-frills computer primarily for Internet browsing and watching movies. Not sure if it matters, but it would be running Linux Mint. Here's some general thoughts in no particular order:
PC Part Picker is your friend for compatibility and sorting through all the options.
I have a Fractal North XL. It's a solid case. If you don't need a top of the line GPU, the regular North will do just fine.
Add some head room for your power supply. Get a gold or better rated one from a reputable brand.
Try to buy in-person from a Microcenter if you can. I brought a tablet with my list and they actually recommended some better in-house deals after reviewing my build concept. I saved money and ended up getting some backup parts.
From what I understand right now is that AMD is a better choice than Intel for CPUs.
Having one SSD as your primary drive and a secondary drive for data storage can be useful, especially if you need to reinstall the OS.
If you want to get into video/photo editing you'll want to consider getting more memory/RAM.
Take pictures while you build. Have some small containers ready for all the screws you'll be managing.
Build with a friend that has done this before if you can.
Jays2Cents has a lot of good consumer-focused videos without going too far into the technicals like GamersNexus.
You may find an entry level GPU useful for basic photo and video editing, but I'd read up on what's available on Linux and what's really needed.

I mean at a subconscious level, they have feelings for each other -- a good chunk of the show is them dancing around that concept. That being said, all they both know is that it's a marriage of convenience -- neither knows the full identity of the other.
Yor constantly worries she won't measure up to Loid's needs, and that's a risk to government scrutiny by the secret police. Loid worries his relationship with Yor doesn't look airtight, and could compromise Operation Strix. Everything they do publicly to prove their relationship is legit is an act in which any enjoyment is a secondary benefit (like the scene above).
I think it gets tricky trying to support multiple causes. If you've watched the Good Place you probably know what I'm talking about, but if you try to do everything perfectly all the time, then you're just going to be miserable agonizing over every decision. I'm starting to think that it may be better to focus on causes that are higher priority to you and do what you reasonably can for lower priority causes where you have the bandwidth for.
It's usually to promote business investments in their state as opposed to general trade. There are plenty of governors that do that from both political parties.
Definitely related. EVs are relatively new technology and internal knowledge for engineering R&D, materials, and manufacturing infrastructure all have to be spun up. All this, and you need marketing/planning folks to decide on what sort of vehicle will sell the best against their engineering capabilities.
The freakout definitely feels overblown. Having to account for California law seems like a perfectly legitimate reason. I'm actually surprised they originally had a separate link to clarify their privacy policy as the video pointed out.
Seem like the whole thing revolves around Mozilla's poor messaging to correct for poor messaging (...to correct for poor messaging) and the internet's knee-jerk, algorithmic-fueled rage to anything with nuance. Then again, FOSS with good PR/messaging sounds like a unicorn situation.
