I just finished chapter 5 and I see this, amazing timing add me to the list.
I've thus far really liked this book, I started reading it only monday would have started sooner but barely got it from my library on Sunday.
Chapter 5 is on my mind rn now and I been thinking of the tropes part of how much colonial forces have become cops in our heads and it brought me back to what I remember on fanon. The tightropes the colonized have to walk Everytime they even speak is an exhausting process. This book has been a great deal putting into words a lot of things I've been thinking about.
Keeping it up for 2 weeks is a good shout, I'll probably finish this book before then but a reread and reposting of thoughts can't hurt so thanks for making this group

My copy of Perfect Victims and the politics of appeal by Mohammed El-Kurd finally came in. Got through chapter 1 the snipers hands are clean of blood. Books shorter than I thought but I'm probably gonna reread it in a week or so before I give it back. It's heavy but glad to read it all the same
Yeah reminds me arguments I've had with liberals glad it's put more in words better than I can. White liberals just don't get it, having to be perfect otherwise violence against you is never questioned is exhausting and just a means to protect a system that's against your very existence. Some of my training on HVAC I've dipped into other specialties like fridge repair. It's nice to know all the components and I do feel a bit smug that regular fixers have no means to a leak issue, at most they can get a new one but I know what to do. Now if it makes sense to do it is another thing
I think an alternative if I can't find work would be picking up fridges fixing them and selling them off. It can be as simple as replacing a defrost timer or cleaning some coils idk not to mention I'll do this shit under the table fuck paying taxes and reporting income
