Howdy comrades. I'm building out a little kit, and I'm being thrifty about it. I need advice for 556 (and 9mm pistol I guess) mag pouches. Are they all the same? Is it possible to go too cheap (ie, Aliexpress)? I want to carry 4 556 mags on this kit, but they have to be split up, since my rig is a vest.
I don't have anything that secures mags with velcro flaps or pull tabs and I've never found I needed it doing competitions. It's not like "brutality" but there is some crawling and going prone and getting up.
I like Esstac KYWI pouches for pistol and rifle mags on my belt. Secure but easy to access mags. It's not the cheapest, tho there are sales sometimes on some online stores.
Then I have like a stretchy velcro sleeve insert to hold mags in a placard on my plate carrier.
I don't know whether or not cheap stuff is any good. Condor brand is kind of budget, and it has been fine for me. Seen reviews apparently from troops that have used some of their stuff.
Honestly, I would believe some Chinese stuff could probably be good enough and much cheaper. If it means more money for ammo and training, then it definitely makes sense to me.

you mean on the frame dustcover rail underneath? flashlight isn't a bad idea. also there are optic mounts that attach and wrap around to the top so you can put an optic on top, doesn't seem super practical but could be a fun range toy accessory
the first 3 techniques are good except hold the light at the temple of one's head instead of one's neck, so you can illuminate your sights and actually illuminate everything from your eyes POV instead of making a big arm and gun shadow off to your strong side
i prefer the "high fbi" or that temple hold. you can adapt to the situation. avoid bouncing the light off the cover you are standing right behind and blinding yourself.

It's difficult to both keep the front and rear sights aligned and keep them on target, and you have to shift focus to either see the sights clearly or the target clearly, plus iron sights are rather large and coarse. Red dot eliminates all those issues, just look at the spot on the target you want to hit and put the colorful dot on it.
Also, it's easier to diagnose a bad trigger press or grip situation, just watch what the dot is doing.
