~ Custom images of Fedora Atomic Desktops ~

Based RPM-OSTree, this is a collection of container images using Fedora's support for OCI/Docker containers as a transport and delivery mechanism for operating system content.

That's nerdspeak for the ultimate Linux client: the reliability of a Chromebook, but with the flexibility and power of a traditional Linux desktop. At long last, we've ascended.

Loving to see the growth for Bazzite, Bluefin, and Aurora over the last year! Lots of folks are seeing how effective and easy it can be to use an atomic OS. :)

Fedora 41 builds of Bluefin and Aurora are available now!
https://universal-blue.discourse.group/t/bluefin-and-aurora-f41-builds-now-available/4624

Keep in mind that this is not the official release for Fedora nor for us. This is basically so you can try the beta and will require rebasing. Once Fedora does the stable release then we will work on transitioning all of our channels.

@twojays bootc currently exists as a separate project within Fedora. Eventually Fedora Atomic Desktops (and maybe CoreOS and IoT, not sure) will be built off bootc in Fedora. Potentially that is when we will consume bootc from the images Fedora provides.

Bazzite 41 is out! We're bringing you:

  • A new kernel, kernel-bazzite 👀
  • More hardware improvements
  • Gamescope updates
  • Gnome 47 (Plasma folks were already on 6.2)

Check out the release notes: https://universal-blue.discourse.group/t/bazzite-f41-update-new-kernel-msi-claw-improvements-vrr-fixes-better-changelogs-gnome-47-more/4726

Thank you for your support! The growth has been incredible to see!

@Dragon Gnome 47 will come with Bluefin stable, which won't update until the next few weeks as we wait for the Fedora CoreOS kernel to update. If you want Gnome 47 today, you have to switch to the latest channel.

I'd rather suffer all the caveats of gaming on than use 11 for more than I have to. Is good for gaming as folks say it is?

@bigolifacks we like to think so!

@mouwrice we do the coverage for Bazzite and our other custom images on Mastodon. :) The Bazzite team specifically wanted to try Bluesky and so another contributor has picked up the management of that account.

@UniversalBlue is there a good hardware matrix of support for the Surface devices or is it basically just what's on https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Supported-Devices-and-Features#feature-matrix ?

Thanks in advance!

UniversalBlue ,

@maxamillion yes, your best bet is the listed support from the Surface Linux kernel project as all we're doing is implementing their kernel.

I decided to check if gaming distros gave you an edge in terms of performance, compared to something based, and of a specific gaming distro would perform better than another.

Since I had a @tuxedocomputers mini ITX desktop on hand to review, I decided to combine the two, so I checked whether gaming distros are better for gaming, with 4 game benchmarks I ran on the Atlas S:

@thelinuxEXP +1 on a Bazzite video :) And if you have any questions we're happy to put you in touch with the maintainers!
