My favorite board games are chess and World in Flames. I'm in a committed relationship, and I love the Lakers.

I have very little experience with playing RPGs online and I had just assumed there exists some sort of an online tool for managing your game. Character sheets, NPCs, notes, that sort of stuff.

As best I can tell, there is no such thing. But there are a million virtual tabletop services that force you to buy the books you already have, in a proprietary format you can't use outside of their website.

I am very frustrated. How is this normal? Who is paying for all of this, and why?

Many people just run it paper and pencil on Zoom or Discord, TotM. Some have a cam on their dice tray.

I know for me, Foundry has modules that help organize my stuff. I have yet to buy anything beyond the initial purchase of the program. All updates are free. A bit of tech savvy helps, but there is a big community for support. The systems and sheets for many games are available for free. Content can be uploaded as scenes and even compendium packs. It helps if you have PDFs.

Wouldn't it be crazy if people who are really super into supporting fascism had some distinct way of being spotted? Like, if there was, maybe, some kind of a very expensive, extremely ugly car that is totally useless for any other purpose beyond signalling that the driver is seriously into being a bootlicker.

Philip K Dick wasn't as much of a wordsmith as Bradbury or Le Guin. By the time Ursula wrote Tehanu she had developed an incredible command of language, beyond the usual bounds of F and SF.

Anyone who says Linux is difficult to use, annoying, or requires a lot of user time and input to work needs to watch the latest video from @snazzyq .

Just seeing the amount of pop-ups, updates, issues, and hoops you need to jump through to use a new Windows PC is insane (granted, some issues in the video are because it’s an ARM PC, but most of the annoying interactions aren’t dependent on that).

As Quinn says, it’s likely faster to install Arch than to setup a new Windows PC…
