I had someone tell me that Antifa were terrorists last night, in a European hackerspace. Because demonstrations can be violent.

Dunno who needs to hear this, but I grew up through the Troubles. I know what real terrorism is. It's not violent protests, by any means, even if they are unpleasant and you don't like them.

The inflation of that word to mean anything you don't like has to stop. Just hope and pray that you don't end up in a place that has real terrorism. You really don't want that.

If drones have been sighted above Scandinavian airports, it is VITAL that convincing evidence be shared.

When Gatwick & Heathrow were closed for the same reason, no evidence was provided. After years of FOI requests the authorities finally admitted there was never any direct evidence; they were chasing phantom drones.

I covered this for Hackaday, one of very few journalists questioning the official line because it sounded fishy.

There needs to be clear evidence published to avoid a repeat.

I think I need to say this. The word "Drama" in the hackerspace community needs to get in the sea.

People dismiss the result of toxic behaviour as "Drama", and it allows the toxic behaviour to continue while usually the victim of the toxicity is blamed for the "Drama". How many times do you have to hear "Drama", before realising something is wrong?

If I hear that word being used in this way, you will hear me explaining this again in no uncertain terms.

If you are a British trans person, join a trade union. If they come for you in the workplace, you will need a big stick.

When it happened to me, I was very glad of my union membership.

There's a parliamentary petition for an independent review of the Cass report into gender medical services for young people. It's a highly problematic document commissioned by the previous government and shaped by anti-trans viewpoints.

Ok, a bit of good news from this year.

Dora Richter was one of the first trans women to receive gender reassignment surgery, in Berlin.

She was for years believed to have died in the Nazi raid on the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, the world's first gender clinic, because she disappeared afterwards

This year it was found that she got away from Berlin to her home village in what is now Czechia, survived the war and forced relocation to Germany, and died an old lady in the sixties.
