Nov. 13: Oldest work inspiring you:

The Oresteia by Aeschylus. The themes of betrayal and loyalty conintue to be relevant.

Oct. 28: Have you ever edited another's work? Was it harder than editing your own?

I used to do both developmental and copy editing, but I no longer do so. It taught me how to catch out and learn from my own mistakes, and, most importantly NOT REPEAT THEM. Learn from a note and apply it moving forward, so the next piece doesn't contain the same errors.

Too many writers don't learn from the editing process & keep making the same weak choices over and over. They don't grow

PS I'd also like to add that whether I'm editing or doing a read for someone who asked for opinions, my intent is to help them strengthen the work in their own vision and their own voice, NOT rewrite it as if it was mine.

There's a big difference in working within the writer's vision and rewriting to one's own.

Sept. 30: Were you able to accomplish all your goals this month?

I never get the "all" done. But I kept on top of deadlined work without feeling overwhelmed (mostly -- I have 20 K due before going into residency on Thurs. with 4 fewer days than usual to do it).

It was a "good busy" month with lots of creative opportunties.

I wrote a short story that I really love, too.
