The Daleks move from "static" electricity? This movie is a logical nightmare!!!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

Was this a Christmas movie? I'm trying to figure out why all the switches on their computer are red and green.

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

Why does that one Dalek speak in iambic pentameter?

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

Revealing: DAVID BOWIE!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

All of the effects budgets for this movie went into colored light cans. And somehow, it works!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

I just realized that if this had been an American big-budget film version of Dr. Who, they would have had an entire subplot explaining why the Daleks have plungers for arms. This is why British media is superior.

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

Wait, in the movie universe, do they say "TARDIS" like "hospital" (without "the")? So British!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

Why did the Dr. Who have one of those glitter batons common in the 1980s on him?

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

OOOOH, the muted colors thus far make sense now. Introducing BLUE, GOLD, and RED Daleks! WOOOO!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

Was the entire color palette for this film brown, taupe, and murky pinks?!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

It truly is a testament to the canonical version of the BBC show that Ian - as a SCIENCE teacher - has 1000x more backstory and personality than this one. And don't get me started on Barbara here!

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

BBC: Hey, it's a big screen Doctor Who! IN COLOR!

Designers: Awesome! Let's make his costume brown.

BBC: Brilliant!

My god, the budget for the TARDIS interior in this film was, what, 2 British Pounds Sterling and a box of wires?

@Cosmosis@dice.camp avatar Cosmosis , to random

30 seconds until Willy Wonka appears!

Already prefer this version of Susan.

Dear Tabletop Board Game publishers: if the box you use to package and distribute your game cannot—within the laws of physics—actually HOLD all the materials for that game even using all the ziploc bags you provide, then please, I BEG YOU, consider a bigger box. I know there are cost differentials and such, but players should not have to separate the pieces for a game from the box to store it. Just me? It could just be me, I admit.

I just found out my University has partnered with PerkSpot - a private company that offers product discounts (I found out via what I thought was a spam email - it wasnt). Good on ya Academic Executive Leaders. Why give employees cost of living raises when you can give them coupons.

Plus university leaders get to play influencers who promote certain products and brands.

@alenar academicchatter@a.gup.pe icon AcademicChatter group I keep getting "bridge loan" spam emails through my college's work email account. It's so weird.

"A History Instructor Complained About Parking Fees. It Cost Him His Job"

()

He complained about the high price of parking. He disputed the President's numbers in a "cordial" but "tense" public meeting on the topic. He turned over the research documenting his numbers. Two and a half weeks later, the provost fired him, explaining that Tarleton State University would not "tolerate intolerable behavior."

@petersuber academicchatter@a.gup.pe icon AcademicChatter group I read this article yesterday. It's grimly ironic that this all came out of an "open forum" with the President encouraging discussion. HEAVY SIGH.
