Have you tried to limit the download speed? Steam needs to write the downloaded data on the disk. If it downloads less, it should write less.

Bancomat, Bizum, SIBS-MB WAY and Vipps MobilePay (all of which are members of the EuroPA Alliance) and EPI Company (EPI) jointly announce today the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a decisive step towards strengthening Europe’s payment sovereignty.

At launch, the initiative will span 13 European countries[1], collectively already covering ~72% of the European Union and Norway population. The coalition is open to all European countries, including Switzerland and other non-euro markets

Following the MoU, the partners will establish the central interoperability entity by H1 2026, will start preparing the technical implementation of the target set-up, and conduct proof‑of‑concepts (PoCs) in parallel.

Coverage of all use cases is intented by 2027 through a phased rollout:

  • In 2026: rollout of peer-to-peer (P2P) cross-border payments

  • In 2027: rollout of e-commerce and point-of-sale (POS) payments

Windows 11 market share went from 55% on October 2025 to 62% on January 2026. That's an increase of 7 percentage units, not a drop of 5 percentage units.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall? Or does the problem come back every upgrade?

I currently have a dual boot between Windows and Linux but I'm thinking about removing Windows. Would I need to do anything to Grub in order to continue use Linux Mint?

As a sort of follow up to the post I made on my alt account, would I need to do to anything to Grub to continue using Linux Mint after removing Windows or would I still be able to boot into Linux Mint without having to do anything? As stated in the previous post, Windows is installed onto an SSD and I want run games from that ...

I use Ecosia and Qwant. They are European services. Ecosia has AI button, but you don’t need to use it. Ecosia and Qwant have built a European search index, and will hopefully expand its usage through out this year.

Netflix > nothing (I'm okay with that... for now)

Just Watch is a German service, a kind of search engine, that shows what movies and TV shows are available in different streaming services. It supports many local streaming services. For example, some TV channels / broadcasting companies, and even libraries, might have streaming services in your country, and Just Watch likely lists their content as well. There are many filters, etc., you can use to narrow down your search.

Calibre + DeDRM should be able to remove the DRM. I haven't needed this for some time now, so I don't know if things have changed.

The main problem is getting the book files. You cannot transfer them from Kindle (unless maybe if it's jailbroken), Amazon removed the possibility to download them from their page, and there is no Linux version of the Kindle app. You need to use a specific old version of the Kindle app to download the books, so that it downloads files with older DRM. Also, some newer books (books released within the last year or two, or so) might have a DRM that cannot be broken.

I think the version of Kindle app you need to use is 2.4. You can download it from here (it's a direct download link from amazonaws). It installed and launched with Wine 11, but I don't know if it works beyond that. After installing it, make sure you go to Tools -> Options, and deselect the setting for automatic update.

If that app works, use it to download your books, locate them on disk and then drag them (only the actual books files) to your Calibre library. If things went right, it should automatically remove the DRM. Confirm that by converting the books to some other format, such as EPUB.

There's a thing called Epubor, but stay away from it. It's rubbish.

EDIT: Re-worded one of the paragraphs.

One nice feature in KDE are KWin scripts. You can use them to turn KDE in to tiling window manager like environment. For example, Krohnkite is akin to tiling window manager, and Karousel is scrolling tiling window manager. You can install them from Settings -> Window Management -> KWin Scripts -> Get New Scripts.

The best part in this is how trivially easy it is to prevent AI from creating nude images. There already exists several nudity detectors, some of them even use everyone’s favorite buzz word of the day: AI. Just feed the AI’s output to one of them.

But, let’s ignore that, and instead focus on AI’s right to produce illegal content from illegal source material.

So, from Jan'25 to Dec'25, Linux market share grew from 2.06% to 3.58%. That is about 74% growth: (3.58% - 2.06%) / 2.06% * 100% = 73.786...%

Same numbers for 2024 gives about 17% growth for that year: (2.29% - 1.95%) / 1.95% * 100% = 17.435...%

my first full commit to Linux

a stepping stone into getting my primary PC onto Linux.

Linux Mint is a pretty good stepping stone into the world of Linux. Or Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), for Ubuntu/Canonical free experience. Especially if you prefer low maintenance distribution. Debian has pretty long release cycles, and LMDE, being based on it, will share similar release cycles.
