I would be surprised if so.

Centimeter is to inch as Fahrenheit is to Centigrade.

Discuss.

I have rules of thumb for approximate conversion in my head for liters to cups and quarts, and for millimeters to inches. 5 k is 3 miles? Or two miles is almost 3 k?

The only landmarks I have for centigrade is zero is freezing, 100 is boiling and 20-22° c might be comfortable?

French Bread pizza is neither French Bread, nor Pizza. Discuss amongst yourselves.

By the way, if you do favor some dry brick like a French bread pizza, do yourself a favor and have a slice of Detroit style pizza instead.

Yesterday we had some elderly people over for our bday and at some point we talked about billionaires and how they should not exist

I started about taxing the super rich and getting rid of loop holes but they kept repeating stuff like:

"It's just how it is, accept it" and "We can't do anything about it, it's just how it woks."

And it kinda triggered me a bit..

Why the F would you accept shit as is?!

These are the same people who allow fascists to take over and start another world war..

If you lost interest in a band you loved long ago, but they kept working diligently recording after your attentions shifted, but wonder if they still did good work, if you can’t find a recent greatest hits compilation, check out a recent live recording, which is likely to have curated the bangers you’ve never heard into that set list.

A less work intensive approach at reexamining a career you have admired. Often surprisingly pleasant.

This is not your father’s Twitter, where you had to place some things on a robotic repeat schedule to get them seen. Chances are on Mastodon your followers have seen those repeated thoughts numerous times. Don’t water down your message with overexposure.

And maybe those habits are built into a blast everywhere at once routine. But keep interactions real.

Well at least for me, I tend to be chronological timeline completist.

It took me long enough to notice the ‘here are my clackers’ symbolism of the photo. It was so ubiquitous on release those who did absolutely become huge fans learned to ignore it.

It was about an hour into the conversation before I sussed that Bowie had died, as every comment could have applied to the new record or at least that’s how I took it. Reading my social media for the first time that night I saw the news confirmed.

I seem almost NV about the way a sudden flush of attention on my favorite artists escapes my attention that it is in memorial. Because I initially see it as just another opportunity to celebrate their work. Do it every day. While they are living.

Often the neighborhood names in large cities make perfect sense.

But frequently enough, it isn’t helpful. It is more like the city is putting on airs. The neighborhood names don’t make sense even if you are a realtor or developer inventing the naming distinction for your own convenience.

It is laughable in some medium sized cities, and even the residents don’t have an idea of where you are talking about.

Anyone a Wikipedia editor?

About 40 minutes into Without The Beatles podcast, the host asks Terry Gilliam:

“Yeah. It's often quoted that George mortgaged his house to Life of Brian. Is that true?

No, it wasn't his house. It was their office building in Cadogan Square in Ninesbridge, much more valuable. No, it wasn't his house, but it was a mortgage.”

It’s widely quoted, including Wikipedia articles on Handmade Films, that George Harrison mortgaged his estate, Friar Park to finance the film, but it was much more valuable real estate he held.

“It was their office building in Cadogan Square in Ninesbridge, much more valuable. No, it wasn't his house, but it was a mortgage.”

Gilliam stumbles over the phrasing, transcription has parsed wrong. Is Cadogan Square, Knightsbridge is the correct name.

The connected wikis need updates

Chancerubbage OP ,
@Chancerubbage@mastodon.social avatar

It was the building to where Handmade films moved their office, that was mortgaged to finance Monty Python’s Life of Brian.

Not Harrison’s Friar Park Home.

By the way, the illustrator, who did a lot of complex SF paperback covers, and I think also did some matte paintings, was a master of eking out Photorealism from rather impressionistic brush strokes of the right color and intensity. At a certain magnification it appears quite abstract.
