Alan Funt once pranked me by saying he was the rep for a huge helium consortium and they wanted a spokesmouse. Coincidentally his last episode. Whatta ya know about that!

Is there a way out of the matrix?

"Not really, no. AI is here to stay. Some say it will make the world a better place. Some predict it will destroy the world in the next few years. Only time will tell (that's the technological determinist in me speaking)."

https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/the-philosopher-is-in/202509/suffering-from-ai-fatigue-youre-not-alone

AI could make things better or it could destroy the world in a couple of years.

Let's see. What should we do? Let's wait and see.

Today, I found the negative side of masking.

I have an interesting intersection of fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, spine issues, and being autistic. A few days ago, I was trying to make my husband happy, and worked in the backyard to cut back some plants. I knew it would be painful to my back and in general, and would have a ME/CFS crash the next day, but pushed through nonetheless.

Today my husband said I wasn’t in pain. But I was, I was just masking because I was trying to present normal, if but for a moment. Unfortunately, now he thinks my chief issue is of a mental nature, which is completely not the case.

Anyone relate?

@AncTreat5358 actuallyautistic@a.gup.pe icon ActuallyAutistic group I saw something recently like we need to add another dimension to the pain intensity chart, i.e., urgency. So I wonder if one might try to communicate to a clinician spouse or even to intervene with an injured person using one number for degree of pain and one for urgency. e.g. 4 for pain of a puncture on the leg, 10 for emergency cuz it's the artery, vs. 8 for pain of migraine and 2 for urgency thanks to coping strategies. Might that be applied interpersonally?

@gerrymcgovern It could be deadly in both directions, i.e., water and power diverted or black-outs on the one hand, and on the other, no internet means all those who rely only on it for info are affected. Over-extended technology.

Every time you mock a billionaire, their fanatical little gut maggots retort with, "They don't care about your opinion; they're rich."

    They couldn't be more mistaken.

Elon Musk and Donald Trump are acutely sensitive to public opinion. They obsess over it. It keeps them up at night. Relentless mockery hits them so hard because they can't buy it off.

@Daojoan All it would take for the mockery to stop is for them to be kind, and deal with their fellow humans properly and in accordance with the teachings of any ancient version of wisdom literature. That's all it would take.

@gerrymcgovern "Mining tied to climate goals" Ha! The people in charge have climate goals: Keep building their glorious pyramid and keep ahead of the piper's demands for payment. While they have proven it's possible to cynically warp a green message into that use, it is absolutely antithetical to the needed goals, to wit, Permanently Reduce and Continually Diminish Human Demand for Energy.
Co-opting a quote I saw today: Humans can be just as well the greatest restorer of the planet as destroyer.
