Hi ! We do not restrict people asking for donations. No measure has been taken against :

The issue here is that we limit some big instances as a whole because of recurring spam waves. https://mastodon.social and https://mastodon.world are part of it and this is why any user on those instances will be limited by our instance.

I don't know what to do. Measures taken against instances are here for good reasons, but this is obviously a problem as we do not want to restrict reach and visibility for people in need.

I'll lift the limit on those two instances right now, at least temporarily, until I have the input of the rest of the team on how to proceed with this issue.

@gomli Not on our software (Mastodon Glitch-Soc) as far as I know.

And this solution would need a lot of work because many instances (and some medium to big one like us) limit mastodon.social and co

They can move to others instances but it'll always be a tradeoff.
Bigger instances with less strict moderation have a bigger instance reach but will be limited because of it.

A dedicated instance could work but take care about federation issues on small instances or they will not have good network reach

Reminder (boost available)

Due to repeated action from an administrator of tech.lgbt, ranging from racism to abusing mod powers to look up a user's email to harass them privately, your moderation team decided to defederate from this instance in two weeks.
The rest of their moderation team didn't react to all that, and we concluded nothing will change.

All the accounts you follow on tech.lgbt will be unreacheable starting the 1st day of 2025.

It was not an easy decision, as we know eldritch cafe's users interact a lot with users of tech.lgbt.
But toxic comportment and breach of trust is becoming too much for us to dismiss.

It is possible the aforementioned admin cuts the ties with us before 2025 in petty retaliation. Please tell your friends there to move instance quickly. For your security but also theirs.
