I’m with the BBC, and totally agree with their video analysis. Alex Pretti was murdered by government thugs currently being protected by Trump, Kristi Noem, Hegseth and the rest of Trump’s administration. By creating a false narrative to excuse the killers, Noem might as well have pulled the trigger.
This isn’t America in 2026… it’s Germany in 1933.

I’ve never seen this before, and it turned up after seeing a link about Epstein in a Bluesky post. Would any parent trust Trump with their young daughter? Walking into a changing room of young girls getting dressed and shouting "Don't worry, ladies, I've seen it all before" isn’t exactly normal behaviour…

@NewsDesk Dictators use the same rhetoric time and again throughout history to gain support from the gullible. How many times have we heard “immigrants out” and “country first”? They disguise their extreme right-wing nationalist views as patriotism, and blame national economic problems on immigration and other countries. Then they oppress their own people and persecute anyone opposing their own regime.

Am I the only one feeling slightly on edge?
I was thinking about the shockingly horrific nuclear war drama “Threads” recently, and seem to recall hostilities in Iran ignited the conflict. Here’s Wikipedia’s summary of the war’s origin, and it seems slightly too close for comfort…

There should be a word for it: the feeling of disappointment / sadness when you realize interesting people you got to know on the Fediverse have since decamped to Bluesky.

Of course, there must be valid reasons for it. Still, this makes me a little sad.

@_elena Even at 60 I’m learning something new every day! I must admit, I’ve never heard of GoToSocial Elena, and obviously need to do my research. You’ve gained a follower though, and regarding Mastodon, I totally agree with you and won’t be going anywhere either.
