Just bought one of these small Asus Ethernet routers to stand in for our Telus router (which will either will disappear, or go into Bridge mode). This should solve my NAT problems permanently.
Anyone have thoughts? Experience with them, or the brand? I’ve used standalone routers in the past… but not for about 15 years.
So today i had a reunion with a fu*ker from an US company that sell network hardware that rime with Frisco.
Long story short, he was entitled as hell when arriving, and was shocked when i anounced him that we would not buy any hardware or service from them, that they where on our blacklist AND that we started to purge their existing hardware.
Now "Frisco" know Orange pedo can cost them a contract in million for both hardware renewal and service.
Today's accomplishment: got sufficiently irritated by Go failing self-tests on stock FreeBSD systems that I finally filed a report on the second issue: https://github.com/golang/go/issues/77411
It's very obvious that approximately nobody runs Go's all.bash on real FreeBSD systems. At best it is "tested" on Go's builder machines, which are clearly non-standard in multiple ways.
I believe I've found the FreeBSD 15 networking change that breaks Go's net package self-tests, and it's an interesting one¹. As described in the release notes²:
Making a connection to INADDR_ANY, i.e., using it as an alias for localhost, is now disabled by default. This functionality can be re-enabled by setting the net.inet.ip.connect_inaddr_wild sysctl to 1.
I can see the point, even though this is a behavior change.
I was just shopping for a simple 2.5G switch with SFP port and I was surprised by how cheap some brands were that I have never heard of. The prices seem tempting but using network equipment from a brand I have never heard of is a bit too risky for my taste. Or have you guys heard of SODOLA, Tenda and XikeStor? Some of them are even managed.
Getting back to the 'rebuild the #network a bit more securely' project, and open the Decisio delivery from months ago. Go to the #documentation url listed in the included paperwork - opensense org - and it is parked with godadddy.
