A once-grand Portuguese mansion, at the heart of a large wine-making estate. Now it stands in ruins, as it is being reclaimed by nature year-after-year.
An abandoned, stone mansion features a winding staircase heavily overgrown with lush greenery. Broken windows and a rusted grate detail the crumbling facade.
Fallen Superpowers - #Abandoned military locations and rusting relics
Empires and superpowers rise and fall in a cycle as old as civilisation itself. When governments and military powers disband, they leave a wealth of ruins and rusting hardware behind. Old army bases and fortresses hidden in dark forests. Redundant planes and tanks lay forgotten. The echoes of the past can be felt in the atmosphere of these places.
🚸 Schools out, forever! A collection of abandoned classrooms from around the world - Part 1
When schools close down, these spaces are often left seemingly frozen in time. When the last person leaves, they lock the door and these places fall silent, waiting in limbo for years or decades in some cases.
These images represent various classrooms found during my travels; Japan, USA, Poland & Belgium.
Spaceship Ropeway is an abandoned aerial tramway station, perched high on a valley wall above a river. Somewhere in Japan.
Built in the 1960s, it once carried visitors 730 metres across the gorge to a nearby theme park. The park closed around 2000, and the ropeway shut with it.
One rounded gondola remains in the upper station, a one-tonne cabin from the 1980s named Silver, painted green with red trim.
🌴🏵️ Greenhouse Rosa, Italy. A disused and overgrown glasshouse in an Italian spa town, now slowly disappearing into the surrounding vegetation.
The structure likely dates to around 1910, possibly brought from a German fair or designed during a period of local spa expansion. The central section is the tallest, with polychrome glass in green, yellow and purple.
A dilapidated hallway with ornate ceiling designs, peeling paint, debris, and rubble scattered on the floor, leading to a partially collapsed arched doorway with overgrown greenery outside.
A vintage industrial control room with large control panels, numerous gauges, dials, and switches, and a central desk with phones under a skylight ceiling.
This weekend I will be sharing photos from one of my favourite abandoned locations - a huge abandoned hospital in England. Let's start with the gorgeous tiled entrance hall!
🏥 North Staffordshire Hospital, Stoke-On-Trent, #Staffordshire
Sadly, the site was demolished a few years ago (everything apart from this entrance hall, saved from the wrecking ball as it is listed!)
I share my adventures here on Mastodon, and I have a LOT of cool stuff coming up! You won't want to miss out. Join me as I explore beautiful lost places💙
6 photos of me in abandoned buildings all over the world, in a 16:9 series of panels. From left to right; swimming pool, old bus, abandoned school, abandoned power plant, another abandoned power plant, and an old lime kiln
#rawtherapee just hicupped while processing and I'm SO keeping this. Looks good in the HDR.
(no front towards devs, I love the program, it runs faultlessly 99,99% of the time).
🎉 My photographs are featured in National Geographic!
NatGeo scoured my website, picking their favourites from my huge portfolio of beautiful #LostPlaces. They chose to feature places all from my home country of #England, amazing!
Thanks to #NationalGeographic for featuring my work, this is definitely a proud moment and a milestone for my journey as a #photographer.
