There was a very kind man in the grocery right before Christmas who was looking, very puzzled, at the butter section, and told me and the lady near me that his wife had sent him to the store to get butter for baking (he didn't know what) and he didn't know what to get. She handed him UNSALTED BUTTER
With the US administration banning people from countries participating in the next #WorldCup and threatening to strip hosting rights from cities, #FIFA needs to be challenged on whether it will defend its own rules — or fold to authoritarian pressure. #HumanRights 🧵
If FIFA won’t defend access, equality, and the integrity of competition, then what exactly are its rules for? Silence here isn’t neutrality — it’s complicity. 🔚 #Integrity#HumanRights#WorldCup
I’m having one of those mornings where my brain and body aren’t quite in sync, so everything takes a little longer. Just a few minutes ago, I prepped Charlie’s food bowl and brought it into my office—only to realize what I’d done, turn around, and carry it back out to set it on his eating pad. Little slips like that have been happening all morning. And don’t get me started on the keyboard—it’s been a comedy of typos.
We all have off days, especially after a wild night of partying. As for me, I was off the chain: snacking on tortilla chips and queso until 10 PM while watching Death in Paradise. I know, I know—it’s a bit much, and I should probably slow down. If it’s any consolation, Charlie helped with the chips, so I wasn’t snacking alone.
When I was a kid in Spring Valley, California, I had a ceramic piggy bank shaped like a bull—something I picked up in Tijuana, Mexico, just down the road. It had a slot on top for slipping in coins and bills, but no opening to retrieve them. That was the point, I suppose: fill it up, then break it open. A good idea in theory. I think I managed to stash over twelve dollars in it, which was still a long way from full. But like most clever children, I figured out how to retrieve money through the slot—no smashing required.
I’ve always wondered why I called it a piggy bank when it was shaped like a bull. A true piggy bank should be shaped like a pig, right? Technically, I guess it was more of a bully bank. It was a bit tacky—painted in shades of red and black, like a sculptural version of one of those velvet bull paintings. Still, it had character. And it held my coins, my schemes, and a little piece of childhood ingenuity.
“You don’t luck into integrity. You work at it.” - Betty White
"Two white daisies rise from a sea of dark green, their petals crisp and radiant against the blurred backdrop of grass and foliage. The daisy in the foreground is in sharp focus—its delicate white petals fanned out like rays of soft light, encircling a vibrant yellow center that glows like a miniature sun. Each petal curves gently outward, some overlapping, some slightly curled, giving the flower a sense of motion even in stillness.
Behind it, a second daisy hovers in softer focus, echoing the shape and brightness of the first but with a dreamy haze that adds depth and distance. The background is a wash of deep green, blurred into abstraction, allowing the daisies to stand out like quiet stars in a twilight field.
The lighting is gentle and diffuse, casting no harsh shadows—just a soft illumination that enhances the purity and simplicity of the flowers. The overall mood is peaceful, intimate, and quietly joyful, as if the daisies were whispering to each other in the hush of morning light." - Microsoft Copilot
I am tired of federal workers I know talking about sympathizing with people in government doing bad things to preserve their income and health insurance.
Ex: If someone asked me to post partisan lies about the shutdown on the homepage of a federal website, I would not do it to save my job. I would say no, that's a lie and it's illegal, and let them fire me.
I'm not going to hurt other innocent people to protect my own family. That's not OK. This isn't complicated. #politics#USPol#integrity
And this is the moment#Facebook decided to abandon any commitment to #truth, #integrity or #moderation because by that logic all someone needs to be bulletproof from #moderators is getting any sort of political office, candidacy or party membership and thus they can spout the wildest bs and never face any repercussions whatsoever!
At which point does this make them a criminal enterprise,
@Bundesregierung ?
When they openly platform and boost holocaust deniers??
In mass exodus, U.S. journalists turn in their access badges, leave Pentagon rather than agree to new reporting rules on the military.
@AssociatedPress reports: "Organizations from across the media spectrum, from legacy organizations like The Associated Press and The New York Times to outlets like Fox and the conservative Newsmax, told their reporters to leave instead of signing the new rules."

"Universities and research institutions leave Platform X (formerly Twitter): United for diversity, freedom and science
"Over 60 German-speaking universities and research institutions have decided to take a stand and collectively announce their decision to cease activities on Platform X (formerly Twitter). This withdrawal comes in response to the platform's current direction, which is incompatible with the core values of the participating institutions: openness to the world, scientific integrity, transparency, and democratic discourse. …"

I am a father of young daughters. Virginia Giuffre, you set a standard for my daughters: to stand up to to the aggressors. I am deeply grateful for that.
Virginia Giuffre, I will talk about you to my daughters.
"If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me." - SDNY assistant attorney Hagan Scotten to Emil Bove, acting US deputy assistant attorney general
