Drying your clothes in Ireland is a pain. House ends up covered in laundry when it's wet, damp weather, which isn't good for your breathing.
This dehumidifier has been great. Drys out the clothes overnight in a small room with some clothes horses. Only takes a few cents to run. #mastodaoine#clothes
As previously indicated, I'm not anticipating cosplaying anybody. But I think I could do Greg Universe.
Not young Greg Universe, the Star Child of 'Story for Steven'... which seems to be the only variety anybody's ever cosplayed as before if an image search is to be believed. No, I mean: overweight old balding Greg Universe. I could totally pull that look off.
Fake tan lines, white t-shirt (I'd probably make a 'guitar dad' one!), sweatpants, carrying a guitar. Easy.
Again, not that I'm planning to. Just saying that I could...
Composite image showing Greg Universe from Steven Universe, in both his 'young, rock star' version and the more-familiar 'old balding car wash owner who lives in his van' version.
Finally managed to do some more tidying and clearing. Pile of old tshirts reduced to three - two worn out (print flaking off) Dan and Phil merch for the nostalgia and one with tiny holes but a lovely motif, can maybe stuff a cushion inside it. Look out for DnP and Cats tshirts on a Vinted near you sometime.
Even if I could fit them to wear again, they all feel from such a different time, it’s weird.
Bedside stuff tidied into a now-overfull cosmetics bag, I’ll get the other from the wardrobe so they can both be half-full and usable for finding things.
Looking for a broad-shoulder friendly tube top. Extra slutty, belly showing kinda deal. I have tube tops but they are like, down to my crotch and BEYOND in some cases.
XL sizes usually fit my shoulders but seem like too much material length wise??? IDK I assume it's a miss-size but maybe I am looking at the wrong style or product or ??? I hate clothes shopping lmao I love clothes but only if they fit
Thanks to the latest WRAP report (Feb 2025) we finally have some statistics about how choosing to #repair our #clothes and buying #SecondHand is having an impact.
A few key points >>>
🪡 #Repairing our clothes has been shown to displace the need for buying new items by 82%.
This shows that we’re placing value on the pieces already in our wardrobes, showing the #BigCompanies that we don’t want to keep replacing items,
Following our 2023 proposal, last night the European Parliament and the Council agreed to:
🍎 Cut food waste by 10% in processing and manufacturing & 30% per person in retail and consumption;
🥕 Encourage donation of unsold food;
👖 Charge producers for their waste and low textile durability to fund collection, sorting, and recycling.
Apparently I'm in the minority, but I love Logseq. I've used it with Syncthing for personal notes and grad school for the past three years with no hiccups. Maybe my success with it is partially due to nested bullet points already being how my brain works but the default paradigm is perfect for me.
The plain markdown files are organized reasonably, so I can straight up use Vim as my notes editor if I want.
Tags (#) create a new page to easily circle back to topics later without interrupting your thought pattern to make that structure manually. Once you leave edit mode for the line the tag becomes a link to that page. Some of my favorites are #clothes-that-fit (where I can easily embed a picture of the tag of what I'm trying on to look for deals online later), or #reading-list.
Unraveled: The Life and Death of a Garment by Maxine Bedat, 2021
A groundbreaking chronicle of the birth—and death—of a pair of jeans, that exposes the fractures in our global supply chains, and our relationships to each other, ourselves, and the planet.
Take a look at your favorite pair of jeans. Maybe you bought them on Amazon or the Gap; maybe the tag says "Made in Bangladesh" or "Made in Sri Lanka." But do you know where they really came from, how many thousands of miles they crossed, or the number of hands who picked, spun, wove, dyed, packaged, shipped, and sold them to get to you? The fashion industry operates with radical opacity, and it's only getting worse to disguise countless environmental and labor abuses. It epitomizes the ravages inherent in the global economy, and all in the name of ensuring that we keep buying more while thinking less about its real cost.
In Unraveled, entrepreneur, researcher, and advocate Maxine Bédat follows the life of an American icon—a pair of jeans...
Just like cigarette companies have warning signs, should #FastFashion companies have warming labels as well? Fast fashion companies are known for their cheap and trendy #clothes, but at what cost? The fashion industry is one of the biggest #polluters in the world, and the fast #FashionIndustry is a significant contributor to this problem.
What do you use for notes?
