A scratchboard drawing made in 2019/2020. I didn't have a high-quality scan of this drawing, so I enhanced it with Krita. Starting with a low-quality image, I brought it up to 4K.
🐉🐸 Nearly two millennia ago, Chinese inventor Zhang Heng designed a bronze vessel that dropped metal balls to signal distant #earthquakes. Modern researchers in #China have used replicas to prove this ancient #engineering was surprisingly accurate.
The ancient windows let in so much light, hid so much darkness. The ancient windows have seen history, are themselves history, yet they continue to let in light. Even though they have seen so much darkness.
An ancient window in Torino, Italy. It's a noble window of a noble palace, letting in some light that reflects and creates an interesting illumination. For me, this photo is a metaphor of the soul, which reflects the light that gets in and hides the darkness. Even if the soul has seen much lights, in the life. Even if the soul has seen much darkness.

Fascinating world of #ancient glass: this marvellous #Roman facet-cut glass beaker was found intact in a burial in Arae Flaviae/#Rottweil.
Colourless, faceted cut glass vessels became very popular in the second half of the 1st c. AD. They presumably have been created to imitate rock crystal vessels, which were more expensive. But these glass vessels were still not affordable for everyone.
On display at Dominikanermuseum Rottweil.
