A cheerful, over-the-top holiday display fills the frame: three beaming elf figures in bright red-and-green outfits ride a pair of glossy brown reindeer at the left, frozen mid-prance as if darting off on a toy-delivery mission. In the center sits a huge candy-apple red sack overflowing with colorfully wrapped presents; a blue box and a golden ribbon peek from the top. Flanking the scene are small, heavily decorated evergreen trees tied with big red bows, and a short white picket fence that gives the whole tableau a quaint, village-market feel. To the right a jolly figure holds a wooden sign pointing to the “North Pole,” and little reindeer ornaments and festive lights twinkle in the background. The cobblestone pavement underfoot and the warm glow of nearby storefronts complete the cozy, whimsical Christmas atmosphere.
Storm Brewing, a painting in acrylic on paper of a dark stormy sky behind glass and steel buildings, with a bus in the foreground on a deserted city street. The scene was in Rua Funchal, Sao Paulo, Brazil as torrential summer rain approached.
This black-and-white photograph portrays a quiet morning scene on a narrow street, likely in a European town judging by the architectural style and street layout. The wet cobblestone pavement reflects the light, suggesting it has recently rained, adding a glistening texture that enhances the mood of the image.
The focal point is a small shop or market stall under a striped awning, with an assortment of crates and baskets filled with goods—possibly fruits, vegetables, or other produce—carefully arranged along the wall. The lighting from the shop casts a soft, inviting glow onto the street, contrasting beautifully with the darker surroundings.
On the right, a person dressed in a coat and hat, seen from behind, pushes a baby stroller. This figure adds a sense of daily life and quiet routine, emphasizing a moment of solitude or simplicity within an urban environment.
The texture of the old buildings, the wet street, and the subtle light interplay create a nostalgic and timeless atmosphere. Black-and-white photography here emphasizes shape, light, and shadow rather than color, inviting the viewer to focus on the composition and the emotions evoked by the scene.
Dozens of streets beginning with Cat, but my favorite is Cat and Rat Road, in Ocean, NJ. There's also a Cat Rat Alley in FL and a Cat Dog Snake Trail in AL.
There are 10 streets named Cat Alley. I wonder whether each has an alley cat.
There's a Cat Box Hill Trail in VT. No word on whether it has an actual cat box.
I still have this camera which remains my only digital M (I still have an M6 and I added a film MP to it, the most beautiful :-) ). I still love its unique rendering and continue to think that it remains the best Monochrom of the lineage, and maybe even the best digital M of the brand!
