comments for Some Tree with Generators

sort: go back

Honestly, I'm tired of the whole "Figure out the tree puzzle to progress" thing these TMT games do sometimes. It was fun the first time, but after 10 games, it's not fun anymore.

Definitely not for me; I hate both 'do the same thing again but harder' challenges and progression gated behind 'having to figure out which random-seeming upgrade tree nodes to buy' and it seems like those get combined to form the main gameplay loop for this.

developer response: yeah.. it's definitely not for everyone

fun little game! though is it normal that

developer response: In the code it requires at least 18 achievements.. and afaik there's some sort of bug that lets you get an extra achievement

It seems a lot of people are confused about the challenges and can't do them. You can respec your skill during a challenge, you gotta switch them a couple of times to hit all the abilities and then they finish pretty quick.

developer response: ^^^
probably adding more clarification to respec next update

You're looking at a screen with nothing available to buy after a few minutes of waiting. You have three challenges you can try. There's no way to discern which one you're meant to attempt next. You've already seen them stall out before, so you know it's probably not a matter of having several paths before you that are all possible. You enter one at random. The only thing available to you is a skill tree. There's no way to discern whether "decrease cost scaling of X" will be more effective than "double the effect of Y" without having access to the actual numbers (not that you would want to reverse engineer all the game's formulas even if there was enough information). The only way to progress in the game is to brute force different skill tree combinations in each of the challenges until one of them works. Maybe you already found the right solution but it was just a time wall and you didn't wait long enough. Should you go back and try again?

Why do people keep designing games like this?

developer response: the main strategy for depression is to and based on what I can tell most people can figure that out if they know how respec works

i like the strategy you need in depression challenges
(also as randim82 said, it's much faster than 2 hours. i beat it in 47m40s)

developer response: thanks
(changed the completion time down again)

the generator already was one of my favorite layer, a whole tree about it sounds really atracting

Ive done achievement 72 but it requires a grinding far worse that the plague tree.
Then the requirements for the next achievement just 1 more
But the requirements for that went up by nearly 150 while even with even more grinding its barely possible to get 50 more .
So i totally believe the fact that the last 5 achievements say that that part isn't playtested.

Good game, completed in 57m51s, might wanna change that ‘roughly 2 hour completion’ mark

developer response: that was quick! (my friends took roughly 2 hours
though I did make some pretty significant balancing changes since that)
Edit: changed it to roughly 1 to 2 hours

the achievement is something i have done on many trees like galaxy.click/play/12, galaxy.click/play/264, galaxy.click/play/180, galaxy.click/play/5 and galaxy.click/play/17 which was by far the hardest to pull off and now im going more overkill here going to 103

stuck trying to get skill 20, i can't for the life of me figure out which depression challenge to complete (either baseline III or supersqrt II) or how to spend my skill within those challenges
i might be a dumbass but i need a guide for this

developer response: you can respec in the challenges.
I would recommend doing first

Add one to the formula for the salt upgrade that multiplies leaf gain based on salt, you get NAANED if you have 0 salt

developer response: fixed
