One time, I was staring at a piece of code for a solid 10 minutes or so, and could not understand why it gave me a compile error.
So, I ask the senior for help, start explaining what I’ve been trying to do, scroll down to show some other code snippet, scroll back up and the compile error was gone. My IDE simply had not re-rendered properly. I have rarely sweared as much as in that moment.

Kein Plan…

This is a somewhat hacky solution, but I’ve set up a thing in the past, where I would share a URL to my desktop via KDE Connect. And then on my desktop, I configured the default browser to be a script that I wrote.
This script would check, if the URL is a YouTube URL, and if so then open it via MPV (with yt-dlp also installed on the system).
If not, then just open it in Firefox as normal.

One time, I got delivered teaspoons instead of spoons, because I couldn’t tell the difference from the picture (and the description did not bother mentionuing that at all).

Another time, I got delivered light bulbs the size of a toddler’s head, because the manufacturer decided to use a picture of a regular-size bulb. Well, and in the online store, the size only got mentioned as actual width/height values in the details.

But yeah, we do already have the technology to place a banana next to your product, and to take photos from all angles. Manufacturers and stores just don’t see enough of a benefit from actually doing that, so have a singular picture in a white void, which shows a different product. You’re welcome! 👍

With RickyRigatoni’s idea, it wouldn’t be a videogame. It would be a separate program you launch specifically to order things online. It just happens to use a game engine for its implementation, because game engines are the most advanced simulation tool humanity has developed…

I have heard before that you can just add it to uBlock Origin, yeah.

That’s really not a good sign, though. A review process to check for basic sanity is just a bandaid fix for a lack of discipline, which ultimately requires more work to be done. So, the person that asked the magic pattern machine should review that code, as they should be deeper into the context of what needs to be done, and they know which parts of the code were generated and which parts they actually logically thought about.

I enjoy Ghjuvanni. You’d think that consonant salad would come from Wales or Finnland or Hungary or such, but nope, leave that one up to Corsica. 🙃

I’m guessing, it’s not trying to find the closest commonly used names in each country, but rather just names which have the same etymological roots as John, while being sort of “at home” in those specific countries. So, it might be that you guys later imported Jon and John from England, for example. But I am just spitballing that last part. 😅

Yeah, I believe one of the big things they are working on, is replacing large parts of the technologies that they base on with more modern alternatives. This here changelog does mention SDL, for example. If they’re integrating that fully, it will handle all input. That’s a big change for the codebase, even though the user-facing impact is zero at first. It just ensures that you can keep maintaining and extending the codebase in the future.

And yeah, you don’t need to do that kind of thing in a codebase written from scratch, for obvious reasons. 😅

Yeah, to some degree I get it. The guy does need help with some things and can’t perform certain physical tasks. And it is an entirely different thing to be tolerant to that vs. being married to it.

But the guy is kind-hearted, educated and sporty. He’s missing an arm, but others might be missing a brain or a heart, which I feel are much more detrimental for a partnership.
Unfortunately, though, dating someone with a visible impairment really gets the gossip going, and people are scared of that, so I guess, it’s better to date a dumb ass instead.

Having said all that, the guy is married by now and has a healthy son, so all is good in the end.

By the way, people refer to it as New York State and New York City if they’re being specific.

Yeah, I was being extra obtuse for comedic effect. 😅

But well, I’m somewhat glad that it’s not just me then, who can’t tell the two apart…

Built upon Mono and Gtk#

Oof, I tell you. Oof.

I doubt many devs will want to subject themselves to a Microsoft stack, so I wouldn’t put too much hope into a fork. Probably rather worth seeing if any of the current music players have a similar UX…

Yeah, I did not expect them to do that title justice, because how in the hell could anyone try 200 music players, but how did they get down to 7 and somehow skip some of the most popular players…? Did all of those somehow look broken on their setup? 🫠

Hab’s mir auch schon gedacht. Nur deutsche Kommentare. 😅

I enjoy this comment. I don’t even know, if I’d rank NixOS as S-tier in general, but because I can handle it, yeah, don’t really have a reason to bother with other distros…

I mean, NixOS has lots of weird “defaults” in that sense, too. 🙃
