Skyler Brocker-Knapp is director of Portland Solutions, a city bureau formed in 2024 to address homelessness and related “livability challenges.”
What in the chamber of commerce rotary club capital government capture is this, now? One of those parasitic health & human services 501C money suckers has burrowed it's way into being an actual city agency? We're paying tax dollars to employ this unelected clown? Out! Out!!
So the cops have to drive an extra two blocks on their routes and locals need to drive an extra 3 blocks to get to Fred Meyers. When you weigh that against human lives, I can see how it’s a tough call. Nimbyism will kill us just as surely as any of the other things going on.
Over here in Europe we've recently developed some crazy new technology: It's a flashing blue light that's mounted on top of police cars, and we call it "flashing blue light". It allows police and other emergency vehicles to (for example) drive the wrong way into one-way streets or drive on bicycle lanes. Maybe, some day you'll develop something alike too, in the US.
Toronto reporting, ambulances and emergency vehicles can mount bike lanes safely to bypass traffic caused by cars.

Probably one of the few things Toronto does well!
It's certainly one of things Toronto does well that the "Premier of Toronto" wants to ruin.
...Or just give your cops bikes???
