We decided to check out a different camp site over the weekend and got swarmed with wasps when the sun was at its warmest.

They have the badminton rackets for knocking apples out of a wild apple tree across the field. We made a surprisingly tasty apple crisp with instant oatmeal and some vutter on the fire that night.

Swing your legs out one side, stand on stones. The other side? Stand in water 😅

This past weekend I was able to get out on the water and overnight at a marine state park! Did I forget to take pictures at the campsite? YES! Regardless, y'all get a trip report! We launched from Boston Harbor in Olympia, WA and paddled to Hope Island State Park. The sun was shining, the weather was great, and we had our choice of campsites. We did arrive at low tide, which made hauling kayaks up the beach a bit of an effort.

Another well slept hammock night. Slept like a baby after sauna and hot tub and ~ 02.00 BBQ supper: in the morning I woke up without having shifted or moved one bit – still holding the tin I keep my earplugs in :D

The weather's been terrible over the midsummer festivities – bad enough that my family decided to skip any attempts to enjoy the main festive day of juhannus and instead chose to drive the eldest's house moving load to her new place :o)

Since you all liked the tent on the coast, I thought you might also enjoy this sighting. We spotted this species of comfort camper in the wild while we were up there.

Since I agree with @Cirelo@lemmy.world, I will contribute, too. I however, love the snow and ice for camping, hiking, backpacking, whatever.

There was a bloody big croc cruising up the river.

This is an old photo from June last year. It rained the whole time we where there. Had to let the heat of the fire dry out our wood.

I'm not a winter camper , although I'd like to try it. But i'm itching to get back out there when it warms up a little

Sharing just to give this community a little bit of content. This December has been temperamental with snow – we've gone from tons to nothing and back several times. I do prefer it like this, last winter was just tons and that sucked XD

Went on an overnight trip to the Buffalo River in Arkansas. The weather was nice enough to just sleep outside

It was supposed to rain, but we pressed on, and it ended up being beautiful. Chilly but pleasant. Just cold enough to make you appreciate the warm fire. Plus the sound of the river to lull you to sleep.

Borrowed a canoe from a friend and canoed across a lake to camp. It was fun, hiked up to explore some more lakes from our camp. The dog didn't love the canoe, but did fine. The water was some of the clearest I've ever seen, will be returning to do some freediving. I do think I still prefer backpacking over canoe-camping. We rowed just over 2 miles to get to camp.

Mueller River Campground has 5 vehicle-accessible sites, 3 pedestrian-access sites. Each site has access to the inlet beach for canoeing, fishing and swimming.

In Diois, France. So nice to wake up with the birds next to me again.

In the Jura. Last wild camp of the trip, need to take a shower before i get on the train :)

First night of camping in southern spain. Was a deserted camp site in the mountains. Cold wind, zero condensation.

A bit older picture (Sept. 2022). Altough wild camping is allowed in Norway, it is not that easy to find a suitable spot where the tent can be anchored sufficiently and it is acceptably flat ... But seeing a herd of reindeers (in the background) does excuse much :)

Weather was nice, a little under 10°C in the evening of Dec 30, 2023. Near Kriaritsi.

What's up party people. It's christmas time and i am giving away six ultralight camp lights, including batteries*. They weigh a whooping 11 g including two CR2032 batteries. According to the seller, the power should last for thirty hours and then start dimming down when power starts to fade, so no sudden death. I have not ran them for that long so i can't say for sure.

Camping out at the border between Germany and the Czech republic in the ore mountains. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day to keep on cycling.

Looked like rain just a minute ago.

Our family bought or first popup this week after being an exclusive tent family. 2005 Rockwood, in excellent condition.

Fortunately everything was safe. We just barely managed to collect all our things from outside (apart from the jug, which we left on purpose), and the tent took absolutely no water inside.

The North Cascades is just perfect this time of year. No smoke, no fires, lots of beauty.

Was my favorite camp spot yet on my current bicycle trip. The mountain ridge is a border between switzerland and italy, at about 1500m altitude. The building next to me is an old monastery. This was last thursday, i then rolled down to the como lake that morning.
