Comments
Vizzly lets you comment on builds and individual screenshots. Comments support threading, @mentions, and positioning on specific areas of screenshots.
Build Comments
Comment on an entire build to discuss overall changes, ask questions, or leave review feedback.
- Go to a build detail page
- Scroll to the bottom of the overview tab
- Type your comment
- Click the arrow button to post
Build comments appear in chronological order. Use them for general feedback that applies to the whole build rather than individual screenshots.
Screenshot Comments
Comment on specific screenshots. You can position comments at exact locations to highlight visual issues.
Adding Positioned Comments
- Click on a screenshot in a build
- Click the chat bubble icon to enable comment mode
- Click anywhere on the screenshot where you want to comment
- Write your comment
- Submit
The comment appears at the exact position you clicked. This helps you point out specific visual problems without needing to describe where they are.
Adding General Screenshot Comments
You can also add comments to a screenshot without positioning them at a specific location. These work like build comments but are scoped to a single screenshot.
Threading and Replies
Comments support threading. Reply to any comment to start a conversation.
When you reply to someone’s comment, they get a notification. This keeps discussions organized and makes it easy to track feedback on specific points.
Comment Types
Comments can be categorized as:
- General - Default for most comments
- Approval - Mark a build or screenshot as approved
- Rejection - Mark a build or screenshot as needing changes
- Question - Ask questions about specific changes
The comment type helps organize feedback but doesn’t restrict what you can write.
@Mentions
Mention team members with @username to notify them.
- Type
@in any comment - Select a team member from the dropdown
- Finish your comment and post
The mentioned person gets a notification and can click through directly to your comment.
Mentions work across your entire organization. You can mention anyone who has access to the project.
Managing Comments
Editing Comments
You can edit your own comments. Users with project management permissions can edit any comment.
Content changes update the comment. If you edit a comment to add new @mentions, those users will be notified.
Resolving Comments
Mark comments as resolved when the feedback has been addressed. Resolved comments stay visible but can be filtered out of the view.
You can unresolve a comment if the issue comes back.
Deleting Comments
Only the comment author or users with project management permissions can delete comments.
Deleting a parent comment also deletes all replies in that thread.
Notifications
You get notified when:
- Someone mentions you with @username
- Someone replies to your comment
Notifications appear in your notification inbox and include a direct link to the comment.
Permissions
Anyone with access to a project can add comments. Editing and deleting require either:
- Being the comment author
- Having project management permissions
Public projects allow viewing comments but not adding them unless you’re authenticated and have project access.
Next Steps
- Notifications - Configure how you receive comment notifications
