DNREC’s Delaware Energy Efficiency Potential Study noted that overall electric consumption could be reduced by almost 20 percent through 2025. The report noted that energy efficiency is highly cost-effective – investing $1 in Delaware energy efficiency programs will return $2.40 to the economy.
An update of the study issued in 2019 found that, overall, cost-effective savings continued to be possible for both electricity and natural gas in Delaware. According to the update, “Programs which capture all achievable savings would have benefits 2.18 times greater than their costs, and result in net benefits of over $1 billion.”
