Abstract
Open peer commentary on the article “Steps Toward Anthroporobotics: A Conversation With Humberto Maturana” by Ignacio Muñoz-Cristi. Abstract: In this response, I address the commentators’ central concerns by articulating three interwoven foci: (a) clarifying the distinction between tenth-generation robotics and anthroporobotics as a relational difference between technological autonomy and convivial autonomy; (b) situating anthroporobotics within the biological-cultural framework; and (c) developing the ethical-civilizational horizon of anthroporobotic metadesign and upbringing, showing how the relational history and emotionality of the human niche orient the technical, social, and convivial viability of anthroporobots.
