@[email protected] Those used corporate workstations and servers make for some pretty good second-hand home PCs.
Corporations spend thousands — or even millions — buying and maintaining their fleet of hardware, but they often get hit with the cost twice: not only do they pay to acquire and maintain the systems, they also have to pay to dispose of them. Whenever they can pass them off to someone like us to avoid that extra expense, they’re more than happy to do so.
These corporate systems are often high-end, costing thousands, but when resold, they’re significantly cheaper while still being more than capable for most consumer needs. I have a system now that is 14 years old, but I bought it used back in 2020 (when it was 8 years old), and it still works great for my needs. It cost me only $200, but if I had bought it new, it would have been nearly $3,000. It can run both Linux and Windows 11 IoT LTSC, just fine.
