And the suffering of Carcharoth was duly earned and yet still unbearably tragic.I was surprised to read in your essay about a Christopher Tolkien "diminishing" Galadriel but also not really that surprised.Finally, interesting to compare Galadriel with Tom Bombadil and to show she was originally presented similarly more above and apart the concerns of man, no matter how high the stakes may have seemed to us.In the end, I find myself agreeing with your conclusion.
