jfc this webcomic was a core part of my formative years becoming a feminist, the matrix/patriarchy metaphor was excellent https://sinfest.xyz/

    I was expecting hitler-detector

I was not expecting literal i-am-adolf-hitler

People say that this is such a tragic turn from someone who had good values, but I absolutely sincerely think that becoming an explicit fascist was basically the natural outcome of the attitudes he expressed, with his performative progressiveness and paternalism toward women and obsession with the Illuminati and so on. I've read like a thousand or more of his comics and him becoming basically an incel-in-denial and then . . . this is really not a surprise. I think the Snow White arc that concluded maybe two months ago is a very clear distillation of his views, even if it's a poorly-told and boring story. You can really see the continuity between his supposed radfem phase and his current turn.

Even him becoming a Hitlerite who really emphasizes German ethic superiority despite himself being Japanese makes sense when you look at how he was a sexually frustrated guy who seemed to sort of escape into the perspective of idealized women*, including sometimes self-segregating into Amazon-like enclaves because all men are pigs, etc. For some people, it's more comfortable to imagine a paradise that would logically exclude them because the point is to escape themselves.

*While both of his canonical self-inserts remained men, one of whom spent a while as explicitly a bitter incel

Second this as someone who saw the whole gamergate/anti-SJW/groyper thing go down.

They see themselves as the Protagonists of RealityTM and will never entertain the possibility they were ever wrong. Part of the alt-right pipeline’s charm is making each and every step feel like the protagonist’s own idea rather than him being proven wrong by someone else and adjusting their beliefs.

This is what happens when you don't have an actual ideological framework and just operate off a "sometimes the pendulum swings too far" vibe, I reckon

The anti-trans content breaks subscribestar's rules so if you wanted to fuck with them you could show them that content.

Willing to bet you could include this comic alongside the anti trans stuff to really drive it home.

I think they don't like really explicit racism either and there's quite a lot of that.

That said, I'm pretty sure he only makes like a few hundred dollars a month off of donations, so it's not like this is exactly keeping him going. He either has a day job and just does this obsessively out of personal passion, or he has a Nazi benefactor (I personally believe it's the former).

Yeah I'm not saying it'll stop the author but if someone wants to fuck him over a little bit in an obvious and tangible way the option is right there.

Very true, though because it's so minimal I do wonder if it would actually benefit him more to get banned because he can go on Twitter and talk about how "In an effort to silence me for speaking the truth, the Jews have fucked with my finances yet again" and then start up a new account on some other Patreon clone that won't ban him and get more donors. Maybe that's unrealistic on my part, I don't know. What do you think?

I don't know, I have no idea how many of these fail to get traction when they do that and just die out vs the ones that really blow up and gain right wing virality.

Sinfest has been incoherent for decades and I never know what to make of it. The early comics were very racist and unfunny, then they became more focused on feminism, now it's whatever this is.

Outright praise of Hitler isn't that surprising to me given Sinfest has been very openly antisemitic for the past 5 years or so.

Lol, yea I stopped reading it many many years ago and whenever it pops back up on my radar it's never for a good thing.
