HIGH-DENSITY URBANISM OF THE 1970s - TOWARD INHABITED LIGHT

At the hidden heart of the block, a former telephone exchange—a 1970s building—awakens and breathes once again.

Reinvented as offices and housing, it opens through two porches, like a gateway to an inner world. Its rehabilitation, respectful of the original architecture, favors delicacy and fidelity to its primary material. The lower levels are adorned with glazed volumes, set within the solemn rhythm of concrete.

Above, a mantle of wood and glass wraps around the exposed structure. The softness of wood responds to the rawness of exposed concrete.

Stepped terraces are draped in generous vegetation, suspending a new landscape. An airy staircase of metallic lace unfolds, like a punctuation of light, and seals the rebirth of the place.
