Set consisting of an idol of Cthulhu carved in "limestone" , a 1900´s prop map of regional zone of Austria showing different towns , a folder of Miskatonic University with a b&w photo of the idol and log data, a picture of the archaelogist team where it was found and one draw of the idol with scale by the Miskatonic archeological expedition.

I love boxed specimens with the naturalist collector look , this is what I tried with these. For sale at Etsy ,

WIP for my probably new Cthulhu set. Some kind of prehistoric idol carved in stone. Still have to refine and texturize a bit , make molds and decide what paperprops to make and include...so it is still in progress.It is the first time I share something before it is released and finished.
It is of course based on Willendorf venus , one of my favourite prehistoric sculpts.

In 1876, led by Captain James Maury, the H.M.S Chimera set sail from the Port of London with a  charter to circumnavigate the globe for the purposes of collecting scientific and anthropological specimens for the collection of the British Empire.
Captain Maury was convinced of --nay, obsessed with--  the existence of the island kingdom of Jobogo: an archipelago in the Pacific that every other scientist, cartographer and naval officer of the time dismissed as mythical.  Maury claimed to have seen it at a distance in his early whaling days.

While other ships’ logs mention coming across the H.M.S Chimera during their own voyages, reporting the crew in good spirits and great health, the H.M.S Chimera disappears from records in 1877. In 1878, the ship and her crew are considered officially lost at sea.

In 1900, the H.M.S. Chimera returns home with a cargo hold full of dazzling and wonderful things, but only two crew members - the ship’s navigator, and the cook. Neither navigator nor cook were able to explain the contents of their cargo hold, or in fact - any aspect of their voyage at all. The ship’s cook was institutionalized shortly thereafter, and the navigator spoke of little else but the “glorious horrors” until he disappeared on a Scottish moor three months later.

The findings of the Chimera were quickly sequestered into the collection of the British Museum, and hidden away for over a century.

I used real vintage boxes for the dinosaur and fairy pieces , casted polyurethane resin for fossils and modern but aged bottles for the fetuses. Museum tags are as the ones used in the british museum as well as the red stamp that appears in the big labels for the boxes and fossils.

This summer I´ve been quite busy with a new project. I was invited to a colective show with other artists for next october. This is part of one of the boxes , I still have to make photos and some things before shipping all...

I´ve managed to cast , paint and prepare all the paperprops for 10 new sets of the Mayan Cthulhu idol. I´ve been testing new materials like translucent resin , I am very happy with it , There is one translucent green idol in this run available.
He conseguido castear , pintar y preparar todos los paperprops para 10 nuevos sets del ídolo Cthulhu estilo maya. He estado probando nuevos materiales como resina translúcida , estoy muy contento con el resultado. Hay un ídolo translúcido verde disponible en esta tirada.

This is the map , with some references to Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark map , included in the paperprop set of the Cthulhu Mayan idol. I will be casting and listing units in Etsy ... take a look for them!

It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed .

I´ve finally finished this piece. A fairy fossil.
It is a resin cast  of an original sculpt made by me. I am learning the basis of moldmaking and this is my second piece using molds. This one is a two piece mold...that means that every cast has front and back , making it more realistic (It is not flat in the back side )
After casting each piece in a precoloured resin mix , I paint each one with acrylic washes and other powder pigments. It is covered with a matte varnish coat to protect .
I continue with moldmaking and resin mix researching...it is a very interesting field to explore!
