Students and faculty members of Bangalore University staged an overnight protest since Thursday (October 9, 2025) demanding the withdrawal of the Syndicate Membership of Ramesh Babu P. who, they alleged, is “interfering” in the university administration and faculty duties.

Faculty members and students, who continued the protest on October 10, 2025, alleged that it is common for Mr. Babu to “misuse” the name of the Deputy Chief Minister and use abusive words against senior professors, too. They also alleged that his behaviour has caused severe humiliation and embarrassment to the faculty.

Mr. Babu, who was supposed to attend only the syndicate meetings, allegedly trespassed the selection process for guest faculties of the Physical Education Department and proceeded to conduct the interview himself as a Professor.

Abusive behaviour

During the recent Valmiki Jayanti celebration, the Special Officer for Scheduled Castes/Tribes Krishnamurthy was allegedly abused and insulted by him. “Several complaints have been made to the government against him and his behaviour,” they added.

“The government should immediately withdraw the syndicate membership of Ramesh Babu, who is acting beyond his limitation and damaging the dignity of the university and professors. A petition has been submitted to the Vice Chancellor of the university and the government in this regard,” a faculty member claimed, adding that if the government does not take any action against him, they will boycott classes and continue the protest.
