"Remixing and sampling is what makes me keep coming back to this music. Digging through records and sounds opens doors to cultural stories long buried. One can start to dig without having a posteriori knowledge—but I can still feel a deep connection through the artifacts because of the great humanity in them. I think of the word 'person' which captures this: in its Latin root, it means “By means of Sound.” It tells us that at the root level, humans are connected through sound—clearly, it is why for many of us, music is spiritual. "

BEATS n BASS is dance music born from L.A.’s beat scene. Rooted in sampling and breakbeats—the foundation of Hip Hop--Rap takes a supporting role, not as songs, but as hand-picked loops of messages that often challenge materialism.
BnB takes cue from the deconstructed production approach of dub music, and at its core share the same DNA of bass music.
ロサンゼルスのビート・シーンから派生したダンスミュージック。
スタイルの主軸は「サンプリング」。マッシュアップ要素をふんだんに使用。ラップの起用もメインや歌としてではなく、ループとして使われたり、リリックもポップスにありがちなマテリアリズムに対し、叛骨的なメッセージ性が重視されている。ライブパフォーマンス部分では「ダブ音楽」の構築的なインプロと孤高な精神世界のアプローチに敬意を払っている。「ビーツンベース」の核にはビートメーカーが織りなすベースミュージックが際立っている。
