Kreuzberg Audio’s product range includes a selection of plug-ins and virtual instruments aimed primarily at hard-hitting electronic genres such as techno and drum and bass. Their latest offering has a more general appeal, though, delivering a multiband saturator that boasts enough range to tackle everything from subtle mix enhancements to more extreme punishment of individual sources.
Oberton features six processing bands that can each be loaded with any one of 15 included saturation algorithms, and can function in stereo, left-only, right-only, Mid and Sides modes. Frequency and Q controls make it possible to fine-tune the range that’s affected by each band, while continuous gain controls allow for detailed control over the amount of saturation introduced. Helpfully, there’s also a global control that makes it possible to adjust all bands at once while maintaining their relative positions.
The plug-in comes with a factory library loaded with 227 presets spanning nine categories: Mastering, Vocals, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keys & Piano, Genre, Experimental and Creative.
Compatibility
Oberton is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and above. VST3, AU, AAX and CLAP plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
