    GlobusWorld 2026 ( Raleigh) was held last week at North Carolina State University, bringing together researchers, system administrators, developers and IT leaders from 32 top research computing centers, national laboratories, federal agencies and universities. The Globus team conducted workshops and deep dives on multiple topics, including Globus Connect and Compute for System Administrators, along with other services that enable automating discovery and data publication, such as Globus Search and Globus Flows.

  • Globus provides the backbone service for the Human Organ Atlas Repository

    Globus services are used in the Human Organ Atlas data portal to provide reliable and efficient downloading of large imaging datasets. This enables researchers worldwide to access multiscale organ imaging files—many of which are hundreds of gigabytes or even terabytes in size—with speed and security, overcoming the challenges of typical web browser downloads. For users with limited computational resources, the HOA also offers downsampled and compressed versions for easier access.

As part of this process, we have attested to the implementation of the 15 security requirements found in FAR Clause 52.204-21 and submitted our annual affirmation of compliance within the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) to satisfy CMMC Level 1 requirements.

    Beginning July 16, 2025, new Globus Connect Server endpoints will be assigned gaccess.io as the default subdomain, rather than data.globus.org. There will be no impact on existing installations at this time.

    NIH has announced an Implementation Update for Data Management and Access Practices Under the Genomic Data Sharing Policy. Effective January 25, 2025, Approved Users of NIH controlled-access data must attest they maintain such data on institutional IT systems and third-party computing infrastructures compliant with NIST SP 800-171. You can use Globus data management services to meet these new NIH security best practices for controlled-access data at your institution.
