As a regular Rubymine user, I was also confused about the difference between AI Assistant and Junie. I just found a pretty vague answer on the Rubymine help site.
I am also still unclear about how much I can use AI Assistant or Junie for no extra charge (I have a personal license for RM). I guess I'll just go and ask Jetbrains! :)
As an experienced Mac and WIndows user, when starting in Rails development, I first used VSCode and found the experience underwhelming and its UI ethic confusing. IMHO, Microsoft does not understand user interface design—they tack on at the end, instead of UI informing the design. RubyMine, while less than ideal, has a superior UI.
Since you use VSCode, do you have a video or tutorial on what plugins you use for Rails 8 and also any specific settings you set to make you more productive? Thanks.
This episode is a bit dated, https://www.driftingruby.com/episodes/from-editor-to-ide, but it is still fairly relevant. Instead of solargraph i've been using Ruby LSP and also ruby-rubocop-revived. But other than that, I don't use many extensions or custom config.
