What age does your program start?

A: Children can join the CM Dancing family as early as 18 months in our Tiny Tot program. This class introduces little ones to both ballet and jazz, blending gentle and energetic movements. We also focus on balance, rhythm, and social interaction, creating the perfect foundation for young dancers. Each child has a personal assistant throughout class to ensure they feel comfortable and get the most out of their 30 minutes.

How does your recreational program work for beginners? Do all dancers start in the Intro program?

A: Our recreational program is designed with beginners in mind. Teachers set goals for the season and guide each class at a pace that feels right for the group. Every dancer is supported at their own comfort level, building skills and confidence while enjoying the fun of learning together. At the Year-End Recital, classes showcase their progress on stage. Recreational classes are grouped by age so children feel supported among their peers.

Do you have to participate in the Competitive Program?

A: Not at all! At CM Dancing, we offer programs for every level of interest:

Recreational Program – Light commitment (1–2 hours a week) focused on fun, fitness, and friendships.

Part-Time Competitive – A step up for dancers who want to experience the excitement of the stage with a smaller time commitment (approx. 5 hours per week, plus 4 local competitions).

Competitive Team – Our award-winning program for dedicated dancers (approx. 15 hours per week) who travel across Canada and the USA to compete at the national level.

Do you offer a Year-End Showcase? What are the costs?

A: Yes! Our Year-End Showcase brings together both Recreational and Competitive dancers for an unforgettable performance in June, held right here in Hamilton. Tickets are approximately $35 each, and dancers will need to purchase a recital costume (around $150.00). It’s a highlight of the year and a show families never forget!

Do you have a viewing area for parents?

A: Yes, we do. Our studio lobby features a comfortable parent viewing area with large TV screens and tiered seating. This way, parents can watch without distracting dancers, keeping the focus on the teacher and class while still staying connected to the experience.

What are your faculty qualifications?

A: We take pride in offering high-quality training to help dancers reach their full potential. All of our instructors are trained in the RAD Ballet Syllabus, with each completing Intermediate Ballet Exams or higher. They are also university graduates, many of them school teachers, and every instructor is CPR-certified and holds an up-to-date police check for your peace of mind.
