I decided to ressurect this topic as windows 10 EOL is just days away.

I wish I could have been here the last few months but my life has been utter chaos as of late but I digress.

Anyhow here are my top 5 Linux distros for the linux newcomer who doesnt want to make more E-waste:

MX linux: Lightweight, easy to use and good comunity. Currently its almost ready to release version 25 but if you install version 23 no worries as the community will help you upgrade. Downside is that newer hardware may not work in this one with version 23 but that may be a non issue for your average windows 10 user with older hardware. Just something of note.

CachyOS: Great for gamers, maybe not as easy for linux newcomers but again great user community. If you have a problem they are pretty good at solving them.

Fedora: Tried and true, again not as easy for linux newcomers but still quite robust. Driver and media playback codec installation can be a bit fussy though.

ZorinOS: great for windows users, maybe a little rouch in some areas but will get the job done.

Linux Mint: the Ol reliable of my Linux newcomer arsonal, easy to use and navigate. Its got some underlying issues but its a safe bet for your average windows user.

MX linux is nothing more that Debian and they put little apps over the O.S. Check to see if you still have to completly reinstall Mx linux  operating system when a major version comes out in Debian.

You dont need to reinstall mx Linux on every major version release I've provided documentation on this in a previous thread you were trolling in.
