Terrain and Scenery - Scatter Terrain

Happy New Year and welcome readers, thanks for dropping by. I start the new year with a mini project, this is a scheduled post as I am still away. I had a paintbrush rack as a gift constructed from laser cut wood, so with the scraps I made the Billboard! That spurred me on to finally get around to doing some random battlefield accessory sprue I had lurking in a box.
Nothing new, GW battlefiled accessory sprue tank barricade, sprayed Leadbelcher, washed Agrax and highlighted Iron Hands, washed Mournfang Brown 'rust effect' glaze.
Same again, another tank barricade, same colours.
On the sprue came 3 barrels. These are always good to have to enhance the look of the battlefield area.
And finally a billboard made from scraps of push-fit kit, in this case a paint brush stand. I textured the footplate as a concrete plinth, and the suitable posters were downloaded from t'internet. A fine selection can be found HERE.

Terrain and Scenery - Scatter Terrain/Objectives Ammo Crates

Hi all, thanks for dropping by. I bought some new GW dice to fit my Relictors, Black with white Skulls, and Grey with White Skulls so I had quite a lot of dice to retire. When they arrived they came in nice Skull motif lid boxes. So, I had to use them and a thought crossed my mind - supply crates for Relictors!
Here is the boxes as is. I removed the dice (obviously) and noted that GW insists on motifs on 'one' face, I'd prefer a motif on 'six' face but as they are skulls and one usually means failed and death, I'm happy enough in this case!
The lid tabs were cut off, minor damage on this one, but adds to the crow-bar opened crate effect... The nice skull embossed motif - had to be used!
With some of the spare plain retired dice I partially filled a box and added some spare bitz.
Once painted and the bits drybrushed and lid glued down covering the most obvious dice, the crate looks full of weapons, ammo and supplies. I drybrushed a little Leadbelcher around the edges and some Mournfang Brown on the lower edge. Added a suitable decal and picked out the Skull. Simple and effective terrain.
Hopefully this inspires someone out there to do some cheap terrain - its the third army on the field and enhances the game. And in 9th Edition actually has some proper game effects.

Terrain and Scenery - Objectives complete

Hello one and all,

I hope you are all keeping safe. I'm aiming to try a new tactic in fighting my 'to-do-pile', and that is to work on one project until completion, simple really.  I've aimed to get some terrain and objectives finished that I've had for years.

Objectives

These objectives have been completed ready to be placed on the battlefield, first up is a selection of ammo, including 2 bombs and 3 ammo crates.
Next are two communications terminals and a Xeno statis chamber. I've added details to the monitors to show that the systems are still active. I really like the statis chamber - it has a clear plastic front to show the genestealer head thats locked inside it.
Up next is the onfield medic.. a very bizzare looking model, and one unlike any medic I've met! I may add a layer of 'blood for the blood god' on the table to add to the story of the medic..
Massive bomb.. Not much to say other than this is a huge bomb, I've painted the leads different colour - there is only 1 orange lead, as its always the orange that is cut to prevent bombs going bang... right?
Drop Pod. The model has been painted a deep red, with a view of trying to make it appear 'bright' to be spotted. I am still looking for a option to add a pilot/body into the pod..
 Terrain

I've also completed several terrain piece sets, 2 were the same sets, and then a set from one of the 40k box sets.

Up first are 2 sets of the terrain which had tank traps, oil drums and ammo crates in it. I've painted the 2 sets the same so that I can link them together on the battle fieild. Agrax has been my friend to give them all a 'battlefield' finish.

I also completed 4 shield generators from the battle of Macragge set from years ago. These I think will be used as terrain rather than any ingame use, however they could be used as a void shield generators?

A really good few painting sessions to get these completed, and happy with the results.

 Cheers, Lord Halfpenny

10 points for 2 terrain sets
7 points, 1pt for each objective
2 points for shield generators

Terrain and Objective markers WIP

Hello all, I hope you are all staying safe.

On the painting slab at the moment are some terrain and objective markers which I've had for ages, and really wanted to complete.

Terrain

Up first are the ammo crates, these have had a base of Death guard green, and then washed with Agrax. The support, as well as the various tank traps have had a boltgun base, with again, an agrax wash. These will get a final highlight to finish.

Objectives

These objectives are from a full set produced by GW a while ago, including a control and comms unit, medical kit and a drop pod. These are slowly coming together, I am planning to have a number added to each piece to show the objective number.

Comms relay and alien holder- poor genestealer..
I am lookng to potentially add a body to the drop pod..
 The command terminal.
thanks for stopping by! LH

Warhammer 40K Objective Marker - Fallen Fire Claw Chapter Terminator

Hi Readers, Thanks for dropping in. I thought I'd share my latest battlefield objective marker for my massive Battle Company of Relictors Chapter. As you may know (WD281 - Andy Hoare and Graham McNeill), the RELICTORS were first founded in the Age of Apostasy originally designated the FIRE CLAWS and are believed to have been created from Ultramarines and Dark Angel gene-seed. A transcript of the Mythos Angelica Mortis suggests that the Fire Claws may have been one of the 20 or so Astartes Praeses Chapters formed to defend the Eye of Terror region of space. These included the Excoriators, Marines Exemplar, the Night Watch, the Subjugators, the White Consuls and the Relictors/Fire Claws and have served as part of the Imperium's defences against Chaos for nigh on five millennia.
Rightly so, my Relictors scour the battlefields of the 41st Millennia searching for Relics, Daemon Weapons to fight Chaos with and most reverent amongst these is fallen Fire Claw artefacts...
A throne wouldn't be sitting there on the battlefield, so I added some Cities of Death Ruins to make it believable as part of a ruined building this fine warrior was once defending.
As no canon scheme exists (to my knowledge) of the Fire Claws, (Tiger Claws and Fire Hawks yes, no Fire Claws) I made this scheme using Space Wolf claw transfer from the Dark Imperium transfer sheet and some flames (similar to LotD - Fire Hawks... maybe a link there?) to make this Space Hulk Blood Angel a Fire Claw fallen Terminator. Shaved off a lot of blood drops and Liquid Green Stuff'ed the iconography, left a single blood drop on a chain in his lap as a reminder of where he came from ;) Now my Relictors have something truly personal to fight for!

Hope you like it. My other Objective Markers are a Fuel Dump and an Ammo Dump. This particular one only took just over EIGHT years to surface out of the to-do pile!!

Cheers, Siph. (5pts for terrain, 10 for Character, so i'll settle for 5pts)

WIP - Objective Markers using Space Marine Casualties

Hi One and All,

I've been working on a few projects recently, Magnus is about finished, as well as some more Reaver Titan building, However I thought I'd share my new project- objective markers for 8th- using the casualty marines.
These are currently glued, based and undercoated blue, the plan is to paint these in Ultramarine colours, but do them so that they can be used as objectives.
I've always liked the look of these, and had them sat in my 'to-do-pile' for some time- these are metal models to give you an idea of time..
I've got a plan to mark them so that you know which is objective 1- 6, more will be shown soon..

Objective Marker - Ammo Dump

Well, fresh from my 2 defeats and one win from Blog Wars 2011 at Mansfield, UK, I thought I would do a little painting of some of those overdue projects. Well done to Firewasp from Ignatum and 6th Degree from this very own Weemen for handing me my butt and good fun and thanks to my favourite opponent who I actually beat, Scott, a friend of From the Fang who's Alex was the organiser. Big thanks to Alex.

So without further ado, here is a humble Objective marker, my second. First one found here.

WIP 40K Objective Marker

A simple and effective objective marker (if you happen to have a spare copy of Space Hulk!). I didn't think a Terminator Marine would be sitting on a throne in the middle of a battlefield, so I added a few chopped down sections of Cities of Death sprues and voila. A throne in a ruined building.

To make it more themed, I will be removing the pauldron, wrist and torso blood drops and the pauldron chalice's. I will leave the Chalice on the leg greave and power fist as a high ranking officer's decorations. He will then be painted up as Relictor or Fire Claws, the originator Chapter for the Relictors (See Fluff here). This will fit in with the Relictors continuing mission to gain artefacts and relics nicely. Now... just have to find some Rogue Trader Fire Claws pictures...

Objectives and Terrain

I have been producing some terrain and objectives recently since 5th Edn is all about Objective stealing and true LoS. I am currently basing some Imperial City ruins and will get round to painting and basing a Fuel Storage Yard made from a CD-ROM stack packet and an old tin. But, in the meantime, I have produced something, albeit small, but never the less - finished.

The first one is a Fuel Dump Objective based on the example Objectives shown in WD and on the GW website. I used car spray for the shiny metallic red, this will be used again in the Fuel Storage Yard terrain piece, but more of a worn dirty appearance. Oil drums were from the Battlefield Accessories kit, pump made from a chopped up Hvy Stubber and Searchlight pintle and a few cans from Leman Russ accessories plus a FW fuel can piece.

I have recently discovered Micro Set and Micro Sol solutions for transfers. Buy some, its fab! Very useful for curved surfaces such as shoulder pads (or oil drums).

The terrain piece was produced using the barricades from the Battlefield Accessories kit. I guess this is hard cover, difficult ground for troops, dangerous ground for vehicles. This was made with a hardboard (dense fibre board) base cut with a jigsaw and sanded edges, then based as usual with modelling sand and PVA then painted to match my miniatures.
