  • In my household, we don’t do valentine’s. Instead we celebrate pancake day, it’s tastier. Husband even designs a pancake day card it’s seriously so cute. I have all the ingredients to make pancakes at home so we don’t need to go out and buy shit that we don’t need. I’ve grown tired of the forced celebration calendar, corporations are seriously taking the piss. Next one’s Easter and I will certainly not partake. I’ve seen Easter eggs in shops in early January, and chocolate isn’t even good anymore!

Plus if you love someone you celebrate them every day, not once a year.

  • Yeah I’ve done that and I highly recommend it, purely for the time travelling experience - I mean in the first season there were hardly any computers around and certainly no mobile phones, absolute mad lads! It also made me realise how well-researched the stories were, like there’s an episode about an evil AI and they use jargon we use on a daily basis today. Great stuff all around.

  • I absolutely D E T E S T eggs. I abhor the smell, taste, feel, no matter what state it is in, it’makes me gag just thinking about it. Ever since I got weaned on solid foods according to my mum. It just makes me gag. I tried to like them, I really did, but the thought of eggs going past my lips makes me almost scared. I’m fine with eggs when you cannot taste them, like in baked goods like muffins or pancakes. Quiches are borderline, there needs to be a lot of ham and cream to mask the taste and texture of eggs.

I’ve gotten slightly more tolerant to smell as I grow older, I’m even able to cook fried eggs for the husband. Although I have no idea if I’m doing it right or not I refuse to taste test it.

I’m so envious of people who say they eat lots of eggs because they’re versatile and it’s a cheap source of protein, alas it’s not for me.

  • Do you have a slow cooker? Make a simplified poulet basquaise! Get a tin of ratatouille (La Doria brand, usually less than £1.50 in supermarkets), empty it in a slow cooker, and pop one or 2 chicken breasts (or thighs for an even cheaper meal), add a stock cube of your choice and get it going on low for 8 hours. The meat will shred beautifully and it makes a great rice/pasta/wrap topper. That’s enough for maybe 4 servings.
