Is this 8000 file limit a hard limit? Can it not be removed via a firmware upgrade from fiiO? I am considering buying this player to avoid using my phone/PC to listen to music but ya… I mean, I am nowhere near that limit, but still.

Sorry for the late reply! I was not ignoring you, I was thinking about that.
I have to say no, sorry. It is not that I don’t value public transport. Of course I do. It is one of the tenets of solarpunk, in my view. However, my goal for this year is to spend less time on social networks and on the internet in general. I even installed an app that blocks all such apps… I feel like being a mod would just add to my overall stress…
Though in the future, once I “fix” some things, I might be able to help out some!

Be careful with sauna daily. I saw an observational study a while back that showed that while sauna use was correlated with lower disease, that was only seen at around 3-4 times a week, and up to a certain temperature. More than that (frequency and temperature) and you no longer saw sauna benefits. I will see if I can find the paper later.

And last but not least, you get to feel morally superior!
Seriously, thank you for being vegan/vegetarian. We will look back at how we treat animals with disgust.

Go on… please. How did it help you?

Welcome to Lemmy! Please help make this a better place. Engage, post, comment, get other people here!
You look great, comfy af. Thinkpads ftw.
Ya, I know. But a few months/years, it is going to be even harder.

Just some ideas. If you decide to keep the domain name, I wish you the best. Regardless, welcome to Lemmy brother! The more the merrier.
I mean… You guys should really start caring about domain names… That domain name is both hard to type and hard to spell… Domain names are important people.
Since it is still in its infancy, I would suggest buying a proper name. Might seem harsh, but ya.
You seem to be hating on Europeans. I would practice some self enquiry.
Being this soft to literal fascism and fascists is not a good look. They are literally kidnapping children. Killing people. Blinding people. They are waging wars. Calling them literal nazis is appropriate. They are removing your healthcare or making it prohibitively expensive. They are stealing from you. Not only your health but also your money. Pump and dump schemes, etc. Last, but definitely not least, they are protecting each other. Each one of them is evil beyond comprehension and they are all playing together, protecting eachother. Your president is a pedophile. He is not only part but also probably one of the main people, of a ring of pedophiles.
Your hate towards Europeans is misplaced. All we want is justice and a good society.

I will be using this post, to serve as a sort of town hall for something that bothers me. @silence7@slrpnk.net
Can we do something about the alias/display-name for !climate@slrpnk.net? I am referring to the “climate - truthful information about climate bla bla bla”. It looks horrible on mobile/desktop. The name/string is just way too big. That info dump should be on the sidebar, not in the name. Just “climate” would suffice.

I just think that creating more general categories would be better.
For example, “transportation” for all things related to transportation, be it bikes, cars, buses, ecars, etc. “Energy” for solar panels, wind energy, etc etc. “mothernature” for gardening, composting, fungi, etc? Climate for climate, as that is pretty big already. “Tech” for all tech. The names might not be the best, but you get the idea.
But ya, I understand that this would have been better at the start of the instance.

I have thought about starting a community for overall chat, something like “collapseSupport”. However, I am unsure on what type of content that should entail. To me, it would be content adjacent to other subs, like mental health or composting. So perhaps a more apt sub name should be “talk” or “general”, but that is too general. Regardless of the name, I don’t think I have enough content in me to keep a sub alive.
I am a mod of 2 subs in another account, but they are dead and seem to remain dead, regardless of how hard I try (and want) to keep them alive.
I think we might have too many subs, honestly, and that fragments the community. It is something I have been thinking about. Even in this instance, we are way too fragmented.
I sometimes wonder if it would not have been better for lemmy to be 1 topic per instance, without the ability to create new communities. Or maybe have 2 communities max, 1 main community (for example solarpunk) and 1 meta, for burocracy. So, every instance would have to be for a specific topic. A math instance would be for math only, a solarpunk instance would be for all things related to solarpunk, etc. Then, a tag based system to filter out things…
Do we really need a sub for composting, a sub for DIY, a sub for solarpanels, a sub for green energy, a sub for electric vehicles, etc… Maybe a purge is incoming? Just merge all of those into more general categories? xD

Hey guys. I just wanna say, I am really fucking thankful for this instance.
Thank you for providing it to us. You are awesome.
It perfectly matches my beliefs.
Page loading speed is interesting. Your link only tested on mobile. A few days ago I did a non-scientific test, on desktop, (just me browing on piefed) and I thought lemmy was faster. But I may be wrong, or it was just instance specific.
This is not about an instance, it is about a project.
And also, different people have different metrics for what constitutes “best”. Picking what one would think is “best” would not crash an instance. What are you talking about…
It is still important to support the better project, be it with our attention, or with our money/donations. What “better” means here depends on the metric.
Again, in this time and age, specially with everything going on around the world, I would hope that there is more thought about using/buying something.
Ya, I think if it were the other way around, the nice devs using Rust and the not so nice devs using Python, the decision would be much easier.
Can you please clearly state your argument? I have no idea what you mean.
Really? That is surprising. I don’t find lemmy to be toxic.
