I’m Canadian, so I didn’t learn anything about new York at all.

11·2 days agoI can’t speak for Walmart but I can confirm other grocery stores do that. Whatever doesn’t sell gets chilled for the following day.
Le Samouraï was my last movie, do I have to do the job in the same country as the movie? Because I don’t speak French well, so being a French hitman probably wouldn’t work out too well for me. The pay would be good though I’d reckon.
Side note, excellent movie. It’s my third time I’ve seen it now, I’d highly recommend it. Just put on English captions if you don’t understand French, and enjoy. It does require paying attention to, it’s not the kind of movie to have in the background, so keep that in mind.
I’m from Canada.
It’s not America.
As a Canadian this is the realist thing ever. Half our identity is being not-American.

6·3 days agoThis reads like something Chris Simpsons Artist would say. Back when I used to use Instagram I followed his account and all of his captions were like this. It was great. Glad to see someone on Lemmy writes like him.

2·4 days agoI’d definitely say to either go Emerald or HG/SS next. I’d say those are the two peaks of the series.
For Gens 1 and 2, honestly they’re pretty rough these days. I like them but I don’t think someone just entering the series now will enjoy them much. They’re super janky and are missing a lot of features. Gen 2 is my favourite (hence HGSS being my favourite games as they’re just the Gen 2 remakes) but they’re not easy to get into these days. After Gen 4 the series goes a little downhill imo but it’s still good. I have no experience past Gen 7 though as I don’t have a switch and haven’t learned how to emulate one yet.

4·4 days agoI really enjoyed reading your comment, I like your writing style. Even though I can’t relate to any of the games you mentioned I still had fun reading it anyway. And your paragraph dividers are neat. Haven’t seen that used before.
What movies have you been watching? I’ve been wanting to get more into old sci-fi movies.

3·4 days agoHow are you liking Pokemon Platinum? I find Gen 4 tends to be either loved or not cared for depending on the person. I personally loved those games, though HeartGold/SoulSilver is my all time favourite.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•10+ year manager named Joe was apparently fired for bringing cookies to be thrown away before their sell by date to a food pantry in my town
1·7 days agoI just recently became a department manager at a grocery store.
For us, any product close to expiry has three options. Reduce price by half, put product on FlashFood (an app for connecting grocers and shoppers to sell product at steep discounts), or freeze product at or before expiration date and donate to the food bank. Depending on the product, some can also be reused as an ingredient for the meals section. The goal is zero food waste for the whole corporation by 2030. The only exception to that I guess would be damaged product (punctured packaging, bad seal, etc).

3·11 days agoWhich will then probably tell you that it conflicts with
vulkan-mesa-device-selectand asks if you want to replace it. Which might either work or just get you another conflict becausevulkan-mesa-device-selectis required by some other package.Yeah, basically. This was my result:
sudo pacman -S vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers resolving dependencies... looking for conflicting packages... :: vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers-1:25.3.5-2 and vulkan-mesa-device-select-1:25.2.6-2 are in conflict. Remove vulkan-mesa-device-select? [y/N] y error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) :: removing vulkan-mesa-device-select breaks dependency 'vulkan-mesa-device-select' required by lib32-vulkan-mesa-device-select :: removing vulkan-mesa-device-select breaks dependency 'vulkan-mesa-device-select' required by vulkan-intelBtw… pacman -Qi <package name> usually tells you anything you need to know about a package. In this context mainly why it was installed (as a requirement for which package) and which other packages are required as a dependency.
So maybe you should take one step back first. Check why 'vulkan-mesa-device-select` was installed in the first place.
Okay so I tried that and got:
pacman -Qi vulkan-mesa-device-select Installed From : cachyos Name : vulkan-mesa-device-select Version : 1:25.2.6-2 Description : Mesa's Vulkan Device Select layer Architecture : x86_64 URL : https://www.mesa3d.org/ Licenses : MIT AND BSD-3-Clause AND SGI-B-2.0 Groups : None Provides : None Depends On : glibc libdrm libxcb wayland Optional Deps : None Required By : lib32-vulkan-mesa-device-select vulkan-intel Optional For : None Conflicts With : None Replaces : None Installed Size : 104.43 KiB Packager : CachyOS <admin@cachyos.org> Build Date : Wed 29 Oct 2025 02:12:36 PM Install Date : Fri 07 Nov 2025 07:55:30 PM Install Reason : Installed as a dependency for another package Install Script : No Validated By : SignatureSeems it’s necessary, so I tried
sudo pacman -S vulkan-mesa-device-selectand it gave me no trouble, so then I ransudo pacman -Syuand after just under 10 minutes everything updated! Seems to work again. Thank you very much for the help, I really do appreciate it.

Probably a dumb question but how would I go about installing
vulcan-mesa-implicit-layers?
